TURLOCK — A streaking Cal Poly Pomona team came into Turlock and continued its hot stretch, taking Thursday's California Collegiate Athletic Association series opener over the Stanislaus State baseball team, 9-0, at Warrior Field.

The Broncos (20-14, 15-9 CCAA) won their fifth straight game Thursday and 12th in their last 15 with their league-leading fifth shutout of the year. It was also their fourth consecutive win in the series versus Stanislaus State (10-24, 8-21 CCAA) and eighth in the last 10 meetings.

The Warriors managed two hits off of Broncos ace Will Rudy (5-1).
Casey Carr went 1 for 3 with a double, and
Hunter Stonier went 1 for 3 as well. Rudy shut them down outside of that, throwing eight shutout innings with three strikeouts, only one walk and those two hits allowed. AJ Moreno threw a perfect ninth in relief with two strikeouts.

The Broncos got a single run in the top of the first on an RBI groundout. Then got a two-out, three-run home run in the second to make it 4-0 early. Three more runs came home in the sixth after Cal Poly Pomona loaded the bases, then got a two-run single paired with a Stan State error to bring home one more and make it 7-0. Johnny Pappas drove in his fourth and fifth RBIs of the game with a double in the top of the eighth to make it 9-0.
