SAN FRANCISCO — It's been a season of peaks and valleys for both the Stanislaus State baseball team and Friday's California Collegiate Athletic Association series-opening starter
Anthony Ramirez.
Friday was a peak for both.
Ramirez logged his first career complete game shutout and the Warriors won their second straight game with a 4-0 blanking on the road of San Francisco State at Maloney Field.
Ramirez posted the longest outing of his career in a nine-inning complete-game shutout of the Gators (14-23, 9-20 CCAA). He struck out six, only one shy of his season high, and only allowed four hits.
Ramirez threw 136 pitches in his nine innings of work – a huge sign of his building strength after missing two weeks of action and not making a start for nearly a month.
Jonluke Goldman got Stanislaus State (12-26, 10-23 CCAA) on the board early with an RBI double in the first inning to put them up, 1-0.
Danny Murphy added to that lead with an RBI single in the second, making it 2-0. A two-run error in the fourth put the Warriors up, 4-0, before the midway point of the game had been reached.
That allowed Ramirez to settle in. After getting out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the second, he would only allow three runners past first base for the rest of the game.
San Francisco State was led by Sammy Gonzales, who went 2 for 4 with a double. Jordyn Eglite (3-5) took the loss after six innings of work with six strikeouts, two earned runs allowed (four total), eight hits and two walks.
The series continues Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled for a noon start. Fans can find all live coverage links on WarriorAthletics.com.
