HAYWARD — Delaney Pamplin threw one of the Stanislaus State softball team's two complete games in the circle Friday, helping lead the Warriors to a California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader split at Cal State East Bay, winning the nightcap, 2-1, after falling in the opener, 5-2, at Pioneer Softball Field.
Â
Kyndra Marzorini (5-12) and Pamplin (10-11) both threw complete games Friday. For Marzorini in game one, it was her ninth in a row. She only allowed three earned runs (five total) while striking out four and walking none. It was the fourth time in her last eight starts – all complete games – that she didn't issue a walk. Pamplin threw her second consecutive complete game in game two, and only allowed one earned run in the 2-1 victory. It was the eighth time in her last 11 appearances that she's allowed two or less runs.

GAME ONE
Â
The Warriors (16-29, 10-24 CCAA) held a 1-0 lead in the opener after
Madison Flexser doubled home
Katie Thornsberry in the top of the fourth. Cal State East Bay (23-25, 14-20 CCAA) answered right back with two runs in the bottom half, thanks in part to a Stan State error.
Â
The Pioneers staked themselves to a bigger lead an inning later when Madeline Ramirez launched a three-run home run, making it 5-1.
Â
Two doubles in the sixth by
Lauryn Serda and
Karli DalBianco pulled Stanislaus State within three, but it would leave two runners on at inning's end. The Warriors got a one-out base runner in the seventh, but the inning and game ended with an out on the base paths.
Â
GAME TWO
Â
This time it was Cal State East Bay that took a 1-0 lead early, before Stanislaus State came from behind and held on for the victory.
Â
Ramirez drove in a run in the third with an RBI single, making it 1-0. Stan State answered in the fifth with two runs – all that Pamplin would need to ride to victory.
Melissa Spencer tied the game with an RBI double, scoring
Sheridan Gulley all the way from third. And
Sidney Crippen-Lay followed by knocking in Spencer on the very next pitch with an RBI single, putting Stan State up, 2-1.
Â
Pamplin retired 14 of the last 15 batters she faced, including nine of the last 10 and eight consecutive to finish the game after she was given a 2-1 lead.
