TURLOCK — The Stanislaus State softball team held leads in both games Saturday over California Collegiate Athletic Association foe Sonoma State, but the Seawolves battled back each time to earn two come-from-behind victories, 4-3 and 5-2, sweeping the doubheleader and the teams' four-game weekend series at Warrior Field.
Â
Each time the Warriors (12-23, 6-18 CCAA) took leads, it was in immediate response to Sonoma State (29-14, 17-10 CCAA) going ahead in the previous half-inning. Stan State led 3-2 in game one and 2-1 in game two. The Warriors tagged Sonoma State game one starter Camille Rodriguez for three runs on three hits (including two triples) in 1 1/3 innings – a day after Rodriguez had thrown a complete game shutout and took a perfect game into the fourth on Friday.
Â
A throwing error and an RBI single from
Sheridan Gulley in game two put Stan State up, 2-1, in the second inning. The Warriors out-hit Sonoma State, 9-7, in game one, led by a 3-for-4 performance from
Lauryn Serda, which included her third triple of the year.
