TURLOCK – The ball couldn't bounce in the Warriors' favor in an evening matchup against reigning PacWest champion Hawaii Hilo. Stan State matched the Vulcans energy with an aggressive style of play on the defensive end. Timely calls and a late first half penalty kick score was just enough to bring the Vulcans a 1-0 victory.
Â
In a game that was rough around the edges with plenty of pushes and shoves, no cautions or ejections made for a very physical match for fans to watch. Both teams were equal in shots on goal with five each, but the costly penalty in the box within the final minute of the first half proved to be detrimental.
Â
Goalkeeper
Alexia Estrada finished the match with four saves out of five shots on goal for the night. Freshman Forward
Marivic Lek-Miro did all she could to will her way passed the defense, letting off three shots that were all on target. Shot attempts from Sophomore
Alisha Garcia and Freshman
Makeila Yancey also couldn't find their way into the back of the net.Â
Â
Warriors Head Coach
Gabriel Bolton went deep into his rotation to try and spark a comeback as Junior
Daisy Martinez and Sophomore
Alisha Garcia tried their shots in the second half. The first half score proved to be enough, as the Vulcans finished the match with a lone goal victory.
