Santillan Surges Warriors Past CSUSB

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.---  Stanislaus State's Josh Santillan scored twice and assisted on the Warriors' third goal to key their 3-0 road win over Cal State San Bernardino in both team's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Santillan scored his first goal in the ninth minute off a ball from Gerado Delgadillo. He came back four minutes later and connected on his seventh goal of the season off a ball from Finn Hoffman.  The Warriors (4-1-3, 1-0 CCAA) sealed the win in the 64th minute on a goal by Clayton Crockett on a ball from Santillan.  Robby Rosas had two saves in goal for Stanislaus State for his fourth shutout of the season.

QUOTES FROM THE COACH: "Incredible result for our program and this team who has worked so hard for ten months to get another chance to build on what we started last season," said head coach Morgan Cathey.  "We are all incredibly prod to represent the Warriors and today was a selfless effort from every individual to apply what we asked of them to do in the game."

FIRST HALF:  The Warriors came out on fire to begin the match.  In just the seventeenth second, Clayton Crockett had a chance for the match's first goal, but his shot attempt went wide of the goal.  Five minute later, Jorge Lara had a chance to give the Warriors the lead, but his shot went top left of the goal.  In the ninth minute, the Warriors took the 1-0 lead on the first of two goals by Josh Santillan this time from Gerardo Delgadillo.  Crockett had chance to double Stanislaus State's lead, but Aiden Hanes stopped the ball from going into the net for the Yotes in the 14th minute.  Seven seconds later, Santillan connected on his team high seventh goal and second of the match off a ball from Finn Hoffmann.  Cal State San Bernardino, who was receiving votes in this week's national rankings, had chance to cut into the Warrior lead but Robby Rosas stopped Brian Castillo's shot on goal attempt in the 19th minute. Two minutes, Rosas made his second save of the match when he stopped Travis Babineau's shot on goal attempt.  Stanislaus State looked it like it was going to increase the lead to 3-0, but Dayne Sturtevant's shot attempt went over the crossbar to send the match into the half with the Warriors leading 2-0.

SECOND HALF:  The match remained 2-0 Warriors until the 64th minute as Clayton Crockett connected on a ball from Santillan to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.  Stanislaus State held the Coyotes (4-1-2, 0-1 CCA) without a shot on goal attempt in the final minutes as the Warriors recorded their fourth shutout.

LUCKY SEVEN:  Josh Santillan scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season today.  He also assisted on one for his second assist of the season. Santillan has scored a team high 16 points with two game-winning goals.

ALSO, SEVEN:  Seven different Warriors have scored at least one goal this season with Clayton Crockett scoring his first goal of the season.  Leading the way is Josh Santillan with seven, followed by Alecxander Cueller with three and Finn Hoffmann with two.  Erick Anaya, Daniel Gomez, Adam Mockridge and Crockett each have scored one goal.

#4: Robby Rosas recorded his fourth straight shutout in goal for the Warriors this afternoon.  He had two saves to give him 14 for the season and has a 0.83 goals against average.
