SAN MARCOS, Calif.--- Stanislaus State saw its six-match unbeaten streak snapped this afternoon in San Marcos, Calif., with a 1-0 loss to the Cal State San Marcos Cougars (4-4-1, 2-0 CCAA) at The Cage. The Cougars scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 52
nd minute when Giovanni March connected on a ball from Kian Aminloo. With the loss, the Warriors finished the opening weekend of CCAA play 1-1.

Morgan Cathey, " We played a team that really challenged us and was very together in how hard they worked and in their will to compete. We played very much into their hands in the first half and began to find ourselves more in the second half. Unfortunately, after we gave up the goal and started really to chase the game - against a team as focused on transition, it was always going to be difficult."
FIRST HALF: It looked like the Warriors were going to continue where they finished off on Friday afternoon as in the third minute,
Josh Santillan had a chance to give Stan State the 1-0 lead, but Jesus Mentado snagged the shot on goal attempt to keep the match scoreless. Stan State (4-2-3, 1-1 CCAA) ha another chance in the 11
th minute when
Dayne Sturtevant's shot attempt went over the top of the goal. Seventeen minutes later,
Finn Hoffmann had a chance for the match's first goal, but Mertado came up once again with the save. Giovanni Marsh looked like he was going to give the hosts the 1-0 lead, but the Warriors'
Robby Rosas had one of his six saves on the afternoon in the 29
th minute. Neither team had a shot attempt in the final minutes of the half as the match went scoreless into the half.
SECOND HALF: Cal State San Marcos took the 1-0 lead in the 52
nd minute as Marsh connected on a ball from Kian Aminloo in the 52
nd minute. The Cougars had a chance to double their lead, but they missed the penalty kick in the 56
th minute. Sturtevant's chance to tie the match for the guests was stopped by Mentado in the 72
nd minute. Rosas made another one of his saves in the 86
th minute when he stopped John Williamson's shot on goal attempt. Three minutes later, the Warriors had a chance to tie the match when Mentado stopped
Finn Hoffmann's shot on goal attempt as the Cougars held on for the 1-0 victory.
1-1: Stan State finished the opening weekend of CCAA play 1-1. The Warriors started the weekend with a 3-0 win at Cal State San Bernardino, who was receiving votes in the national poll. In the match,
Josh Santillan scored two goals and assisted on Stan State's third goal.
Clayton Crockett scored the Warriors' final goal while
Finn Hoffmann and
Gerardo Delgadillo had assists.
SIX: Robby Rosas tied his season in saves this afternoon with six. He posted six saves in the Warriors' 3-0 win over UC Santa Cruz on Sept. 19. For the season, Rosas has 20 saves, .769 saves percentage and four shutouts.
STREAKS SNAPPED: The Warriors saw two streaks snapped this afternoon at Cal State San Marcos. They had their six-match unbeaten streak snapped. Stan State also had its two-match shutout streak snapped.
UP NEXT: Stan State will return home to Warrior Stadium for a pair of CCAA matches this September 30-October 2. The Warriors will host SF State on Friday, Sept. 30 at 4:30pm. During the match, the Warriors will be celebrating the 50
th Anniversary of Title IX. Two days later on Oct. 2, Stan State will host Sonoma State at 11:30am.
