TURLOCK, Calif. – A 1-3 effort takes Stan State to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in CCAA play for the season. The collective was only able to steal the first set from the Cougars that followed a three-set run for the visitors to close out the night.
Performances by
Gabby Rawson and
Haley Burdo shined some light on a tough loss for the Warriors, as Rawson finished with 21 digs and Burdo assisted on 17 kills for the night. Burdo also managed to put down five sneaky kills of her own in the match.
The home team struggled to put solid attacking numbers up that most are accustomed to seeing and scoring runs from San Marcos made the hitting struggles an uphill battle.
The Warriors were still able to bounce back from several significant point deficits, clawing their way back from an 8-16 score in the third set to bring the lead within four. Stanislaus State dug deep into their bench once again, as Sophomores
Kailee Whorton and
Mariah Iosua saw action in the third set. Sophomore
Makenna Carrillo made her way into the starting rotation, contributing six kills and five digs, while Junior
Isabella Isaia played in all four sets for the Warriors with a service ace, assist, and six digs.
Although the team was unable to stretch their home winning streak to five, they can put this game behind them for tomorrow's conference rivalry match against Cal State East Bay at 5pm
