TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stanislaus State men's soccer team will return home this weekend for a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matches against San Francisco State and Sonoma State. The Warriors will entertain SF State this Friday, September 30 at 4:30pm and Sonoma State this Sunday, October 2 at 11:30am at Warrior Field.
LAST TIME ON THE PITCH: The Warriors went 2-1 last week including 1-1 in the opening weekend of CCAA play. Stan State started the week with a 3-0 win over UC Santa Cruz.
Finn Hoffmann,
Josh Santillan and
Erick Anaya had the three goals for the Warriors.
Sammy Villanueva and
Bradley Magnussen assisted on two of Stan State's goals.
Robby Rosas had six saves in the shutout for the hosts. The Warriors started conference play with a 3-0 win at Cal State San Bernardino. Santillan scored twice and assisted on Stan State's third goal. Hoffman and
Gerardo Delgadillo assisted on Santillan's goals. Rosas had two saves in goal for the victors. The Warriors finished the weekend with a 1-0 loss at Cal State San Marcos.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Stan State is 4-2-3 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA after its 2-1 week. The Warriors had their six-match unbeaten streak snapped in their 1-0 loss at Cal State San Marcos.
Josh Santillan leads the team with his seven goals, two assists and 16 points. He also has two game-winning goals.
Alecxander Cuellar has three goals and an assist for even points while
Finn Hoffmann has scored two goals and has two assists for six points. Cuellar and Hoffman each have the Warriors' two other game-winning goals.
Erick Anaya,
Clayton Crockett,
Daniel Gomez, and
Adam Mockridge each have scored a goal this season with
Gerardo Delgadillo recording two assists.
Robby Rosas has posted a 0.86 goals against average with 20 saves, .769 saves percentage and four shutouts.
CCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Josh Santillan was named the CCAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 19-25. Santillan scored three goals and had an assist in the Warriors' 2-1 week. Two of his goals and the assist came in Stan State's 3-0 win at Cal State San Bernardino, who at the team was receiving votes in the national poll.
AMONGST THE NCAA/CCAA LEADERS: In the recent NCAA Division II statistics report,
Josh Santillan and
Robby Rosas are listed amongst the nation's leaders. Santillan is 11
th in total goals (seven), 15
th in total points (16), 18
th in game-winning goals, 20
th in goals/game (0.78) and 21
st in points per game (1.78). Rosas is ninth in the nation with his four shutouts. Santillan is in the top three in the CCAA in goals (2
nd, goals scored), points (2
nd, 16) and tied for third in game-winning goals (two). Rosas is tied for the league lead in shutouts (four) and eight in goals against average (.857) and saves percentage (.769) while he is ninth in saves per game (2.86).
UPDATE ON THE GATORS: San Francisco State enters Friday's contest with the Warriors with a 2-2-4 overall record and a 0-0-2 CCAA record. The Gators had back-to-back scoreless ties with Cal Poly Humboldt and Chico State this weekend. Gustavo Ferrari leads the way with his four goals and two assists for ten points. Julio Gonzalez Ponce is next with his three goals and six points. Matias Herrera-Fuentas has posted a 0.83 goals against average with 21 saves, .808 saves percentage and three shutouts.
ALL-TIME SERIES: SF State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 8-6-4. Stan State is 0-4-1 in its last five meetings with the Gators. The Warriors lost last year's meeting 3-2 in San Francisco. Stan State last defeated the Gators in 2015, a 2-0 victory in Turlock.
UPDATE ON THE SEAWOLVES: Sonoma State enters this weekend with a 4-3-2 record including a 1-1CCAA record. They went 1-1 this weekend losing 2-1 to Chico State and defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 2-1. Ulysses Vega leads the team with his three goals, one assist and seven points. Patrick Neill and Jose Rios Lara are next on the team each with two goals and an assist for five points. Reinier ter Riet has a 1.02 goals against average with 30 saves, 3.5 shutouts and a 1.02 goals against average.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Sonoma State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 12-8-2. The Seawolves have won three of the last five meetings including 2-1 last season in Santa Rosa. The last Warrior win was 4-0 in Turlock in 2018.
