Stan State Shakes Back with a CCAA Win Over Cal Poly Humboldt

ARACATA – Warrior Volleyball waltzes back into the win column with a 3-0 sweep of the Lumberjacks Thursday evening. The team left nothing to chance this time around as they put out two convincing double digit leads in sets one and three. 
 
Haley Burdo headlined tonight's performance with 18 assists and 10 digs to complete the double-double, while a block party hosted by Mariah Iosua, Macky Morris, Penelope Zepeda, Autumn Kirby, and Alex Byrd helped the Warriors keep their foot on the gas.
 
Morris led all hitters with nine kills followed closely by Zepeda and Byrd with eight. Gabby Rawson put up solid digging number with 14 on the match to go nicely with a set ending service ace in the first. 
 
The Lumberjacks saw their closest set slip away 25-22 after the Warriors sparked an early rally back from a seven-point deficit. Eyriana Eatmon did her fair share in the assist category with 11, including five in the second set alone.
 
The Warriors ended the night early as they stretched their lead to 11 about halfway through the third set. Makenna Carrillo got busy late with three of her four kills coming towards the tail end of the match. Head Coach Lauren Flowers on Carrillo and the rest of the team's  performance, "I was really happy to see the work we put in this week translated to the court tonight. I was especially proud of Makenna Carrillo in how she stepped up and helped us with two big serving runs to put us back into that second set. We are always striving for our standards and I felt as a team we met those." Stan State would go on to finish their food 25-14, putting them at 12-4 overall and 4-3 in the CCAA.
 
Sonoma State is next on the menu this Saturday at 3pm. The Warriors will remain on the road for the next three matches until they return home in a little over a week.
