Late Second Half Surge Keys Warriors' Win over SF State

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State women's soccer team improved to 5-2-2 overall and 2-1 in the CCAA with a 2-0 win over the visiting SF State Gators this evening at Warrior Stadium in Turlock, Calif.  Abby Martinez connected on a Summer England corner kick in the 76th minute for the Warriors' first goal.  The hosts sealed the win on a goal by Arionna Imhoff with five minutes left on a cross by Alexis BrewahAlexia Estrada recorded her third shutout of the season in goal for the Warriors. 

FIRST HALF:  The hosts came out on fire to begin the match as Alexis Brewah had two shot attempts and Sabrina Cabrera had one in the first ten minutes of the match.  SF State (2-6-2, 0-2-1 CCAA) saw its first shot attempt by Alyna Flores sail high over the crossbar in the 25th minute.  Alexia Estrada recorded her first of three saves on the evening stopping Mikenna Madelans shot on goal attempt in the 34th minute.  Brewah had another shot attempt this time on goal in the 35th as it was snagged by Marcella Salyer for the Gators.  It looked like the guests had another chance to take the lead as Estrada stopped Kylie Schneider's shot on goal attempt to send the match into the half scoreless. 

SECOND HALF:  To begin the second half, the Warriors saw their chance to take the lead when Daisy Martinez's shot was stopped by Salyer in the 50th minute.  The Gators came right down the pitch, AJ Tanner's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Warriors' keeper.  Stan State had another chance for the lead in the 62nd minute when Cabrera's shot on goal was stopped by the Gator keeper.  The score remained scoreless until the 76th minute when Martinez connected on a corner kick by Summer England.  The Warriors sealed the 2-0 win on a goal by Arionna Imhoff off a ball from Alexis Brewah in the 85th minute.

SECOND CONSECUTIVE SHUTOUT:  Alexia Estrada recorded her second consecutive shutout and third of the season tonight in the Warriors' 2-0 win.  Tonight, Estrada had three saves in goal for Stan State.

FIRST OF THE SEASON:  Abby Martinez and Arionna Imhoff each scored their first goal of the season tonight.  Martinez's goal came off a corner kick by Summer England while Imhoff's came off a pass from Alexis Brewah.

TEAM LEADER TOO IN ASSISTS:  Besides leading Stan State in goals, Alexis Brewah recorded her team leading fourth assist this evening. She leads team with seven goal and 18 points along with her four assists.

UP NEXT:  The Warriors will return home this Sunday, October 2 at 2pmm when they host Sonoma State.  The Seawolves defeated Cal State East Bay 2-0 earlier this evening in Hayward.
