Will Pallesi s two free throws gave the Warriors 68-65 victory..
Benno Zecic just missed a triple double with his 13 points, nine assists and eight rebound performance. Short with 13 points while Ordonio added 11 points.
FIRST HALF: The first eight minutes of the game was even with the score tied at 10-10 on an
Isaiah Jones made free throw. A jumper by Evan Oliver gave Chico State (5-6, 3-3 CCAA) a 22-16 lead with seven minutes left in the first stanza. A Jones jumper off a
Travion Williams assist capped a 17-3 run by the Warriors to give the hosts a 33-25 lead with ninety seconds left in the half. The Wildcats outscored the Warriors 5-0 to end the half to cut the hosts' lead to 33-30.
SECOND HALF: Stan State (4-8, 2-4 CCAA) came out on fire to begin the second half. The Warriors took a 45-35 lead (their largest of the game) on a three by
Marlon Short off a pass from
Benno Zecic just five minutes into the second half. A Brennan Wheeler jumper capped a 17-4 run by Chico State as the visitors took a 52-49 lead at the mid-way mark of the second stanza. A
Will Pallesi jumper gave the Warriors back the lead (53-52) at the 8:21 mark. Three times in the next four minutes including with four minutes left in regulation on a Joshua Hamilton three (62-58). Williams jumper tied the game at 62-62 with two minutes left on the clock for Stan State. Another three by Hamilton gave the Wildcats a 65-63 lead, but Short was fouled and made both free throws on Stan State's next possession as the hosts cut the Wildcat lead to 65-64. Stan State forced a Wildcat turnover and took the 66-65 lead on a Short jumper with just seventeen ticks left in the game. The Warriors forced another Chico State turnover on and sealed the 68-65 win on two Pallesi free throws.
ALMOST A TRIPLE DOUBLE: Benno Zecic just missed a triple double for the Warriors this evening. He scored 13 points and added nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds for Stan State in 37 minutes. The redshirt junior recorded four steals land blocked two shots for Stan State. He also was six-for-11 from the field including making a three-point field goa.
22 POINTS: Stan State scored 22 points off of 17 Chico State turnovers this afternoon. Ten of those 17 turnovers came on steals five by
Kobe Ordonio and four by
Benno Zecic while
Isaiah Jones had one.
PERFECT TRIO: Three Warriors were perfect from the charity stripe this afternoon.

UP NEXT: The Warriors will continue their season long five-game home stand later this week. Stan State will host Cal State East Bay on Thursday, January 5 at 7:30pm and Cal State Dominguez Hills this Saturday, January 7 at 3pm. The home stand will conclude next week as Stan State hosts No. 12 Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, January 12 at 7:30pm and Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, January 14 at 3pm.
