Warriors Fall During the Final Ticks Against San Bernadino 59-62

TURLOCK, Calif. – In a game that went down to the wire tonight at the Fitz, some last second chaos ends in a narrow 59-62 win for the 'Yotes of Cal State San Bernardino. Three Warriors ended the night with double-digit scoring, including Jadyn Patterson who stepped up big with a career-high 16 points on 4-5 shooting from the three-point line. Alexis Woodson and Makayla Rose followed closely behind her with 13 and 11 points of their own.

FIRST QUARTER: The evening faceoff started slow, with both teams opening the first three minutes of play without a bucket. Rough shooting numbers from both teams led to a one-point lead for the 'Yotes to begin the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER: After both clubs shot under 30% from both the field and from deep in the opening quarter, things started to rev up as both teams upped their efficiency before the half. Joia Armstrong scored four of her eight points on the night in the second period, connecting on 4 of her 6 free throws in the game. In another low scoring quarter, the Warriors were outshot by only 2 points to head to the locker room down 23-26.

THIRD QUARTER: As the second half got going, so did Patterson's hot three-point shooting. She finished the game shooting 62.5% from the field, including two big three pointers in the third quarter that helped her team gain the lead over San Bernardino in the opening five minutes of the period. The 'Yotes however, managed to answer back with some timely buckets of their own to sneak out a one-point lead before the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER: Rose knocked down some clutch buckets in the paint throughout the final period to help keep Stan State within striking range. Meanwhile, Woodson caught flames in crunch time with nine of her 13 points being a big time three-pointer to tie the game at 59-59. The 'Yotes managed to answer back after their 30 second timeout, drawing up a three of their own to go up 62-59. With one final  chance to send the game into overtime, a broken down play from the Warriors ended with two missed shots in the lane to cap a tough loss for the Warriors.

UP NEXT: Stanislaus State looks to bounce back with a handful of road games in the coming weeks, facing San Francisco State on Thursday, Jan. 19that 5:30pm and Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, Jan. 21st at 1pm.
