Season-High Scoring Snaps the Gators 74-59

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – It was a high-powered offensive effort from the Warriors, who snap their five-game losing streak and grab a conference win on the road against San Francisco State. A three-headed snake of Makayla Rose, Liliana Marques, and Aunika Hornung brought a combined 46 points to the table to beat the Gators on their home turf.

FIRST QUARTER: A Hornung block and Jadyn Patterson steal sparked the Warriors' first quarter action, as the team was able to utilize their bench players early in the game and turn defense into offense in a 11-10 lead to open the night.

SECOND QUARTER: The Warriors' leading scorers in Rose and Marques got going in a second quarter battle of lead changes. However, some solid three-point shooting from SF State kept them in the driver's seat with a one-point lead heading into the half.

THIRD QUARTER: Marques hit her second three-pointer of the night to tie the game at 32-32 in the opening minutes of the third quarter, and Rose did a solid job at the free-throw line, connecting on 4-4 freebies in the quarter. Marques continued her hot shooting streak, connecting on yet another three ball in the quarter, later finishing with 17 points on a perfect shooting night. Hornung's last second lay-in before the buzzer brought the Warriors up 56-52.

FOURTH QUARTER: The final ten minutes of play were dominated by Stan State, who pulled away to a double-digit lead and maintained it through the rest of the game. Patterson connected on a layup and a three, while Marques racked up two steals and late jumper to take the win 74-59.

EFFICIENT SHOOTING: Stan State had their highest scoring game of the season in the victory, shooting an impressive 48.3% from the field and 46.7% from deep.

POINTS OFF TURNOVERS: Turning defense to offense has been the name of the game for the Warriors all year, they converted 21 points off blocks and steals against the Gators. They collected a total of nine steals and five blocks in the game.

UP NEXT: Next on the Warriors' road trip is a faceoff at Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, Jan. 21st at 1pm.
