ARCATA, Calif.--- Stan State out-shot its hosts, Cal Poly Humboldt, 19-6 including 5-3 in shot on goal attempts, but the match ended in a scoreless draw this afternoon in a CCAA match at College Creek Field in Arcata. The Warriors will host Sonoma State this Sunday, October 15 at 2pm at Warrior Stadium in Turlock.
FIRST HALF: Stan State (3-7-2, 0-3-2 CCAA) had a chance for the early lead in the fourth minute when Adrian Gallardo stopped
Marco Carbajal's attempt. The visitors had another chance in the 17
th minute when
Sammy Villanueva's shot attempt was stopped by the Lumberjack keeper. With 15 minutes left in the first half, the Jacks looked like they were going to take the lead when
Robby Rosas snagged Duke Romanchuk's shot on goal attempt. The Warriors had final chance in the half to take the 1-0 lead, but
Adam Mockridge's shot was stopped by Gallardo to send the match into the half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Cal Poly Humboldt (4-5-2 ,1-3-1 CCAA) had the new half's first shot on goal attempt in the 53
rdminute when
Robby Rosas kept the match scoreless stopping Marcus Abdel-Malek's shot on goal attempt. Stan State had two chances for the lead hit the crossbar mid-way through the second half as both
Alecxander Cuellar and
Edgar Castaneda had their shots in the bar to keep the match scoreless. Cooper Stephens looked like he was going to give the Jacks the lead in the 71
st minute when
Robby Rosas made one of his three saves on the afternoon. With six minutes left in the match,
Julian Madrigal looked like he was going to be the hero but his shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Jacks' keeper. Two minutes later, Adrian Gallardo made another stop this time off the foot of
Elio Corral. The Warriors had one final chance in the final seconds for the game-winner but Castaneda's shot went wide left of the goal to end the match in a scoreless tie.
STATS: The Warriors out-shot their hosts 19-6 including 5-3 in shot on goal attempts. They also had a 10-0 corner kick advantage.
Robby Rosas finished with three saves for the Warriors while Adrian Gallardo had five in goal for Humboldt.
UP NEXT: Stan State returns home to face Sonoma State this Sunday, October 15 at 2pm in a CCAA match at Warrior Stadium. Sonoma State lost 1-0 at home to nationally ranked Chico State.
