ARCATA, Calif.--- Stan State goalkeeper
Malia Allen recorded a season high ten saves in their scoreless draw with Cal Poly Humboldt in a CCAA match-up at College Creek Field in Arcata, Calif. The Warriors will return home to Warrior Stadium to face Sonoma State this Sunday, October 15 at 11:30 a.m.
FIRST HALF: Cal Poly Humboldt (9-1-2, 3-1-1 CCAA) had two chances in the first fourteen minutes of the match to take the early 1-0 lead but were stopped by
Malia Allen including Frida Duran Arellano's shot on goal attempt in the 15
th minute. Two minutes later, it looked like the Warriors were going to take the lead but Alia Avilla's attempt was stopped by the Jacks' Carson Thomas-Terrel. Stan State (4-5-3, 1-2-2 CCAA) had another chance four minutes later when Thomson-Terrel stopped by
Alexis Brewah's shot on goal attempt. Brewah had another shot attempt be stopped by the Jacks' keeper in the 32
nd minute. The hosts had two more chances to take the lead, but Allen came up big including on Brooke Weese's attempt in the 44
th minute to send the match into the half tied at 0-0.
SECOND HALF: Malia Allen made five saves in the first eleven minutes in the second half including two off the foot of Emilia Long in the 54
th and 55
th minutes. Stan State had two chances for the lead in the 70th minute including one off the foot of
Sunny Mancilla that was stopped by the Humboldt keeper.
Kayla Perez had a chance to be the hero for the guests when her shot sailed over the goal in the 82
nd minute. Allen made two huge saves in the final minutes including one in the 89
th minute when Emma McChristie's shot was stopped by the Warrior keeper.
STATS: Malia Allen had ten saves in goal for the guests with Carson Thomson-Terrel recording five saves for the Jacks. Cal Poly Humboldt held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks and a 10-5 shot on goal advantage.
UP NEXT: Stan State returns home to face Sonoma State this Sunday, October 15 at 11:30 a.m. The Seawolves lost 2-1 this afternoon to Chico State in Rohnert Park.
