TURLOCK, Calif.---  With five matches left in the regular season, Stan State women's soccer is in the hunt for a berth in the six-team 2023 CCAA Soccer Championships, Nov. 5, 10-12.  Stan State went 1-0-1 last week including a 3-1 victory over Sonoma State to move into a tie for sixth place with Cal State San Bernardino each with eight points.  The Warriors will return to Southern California for a pair of CCAA matches against Cal State Dominguez Hills (Fri., Oct. 20, 4:30pm) in Carson and Cal State Los Angeles (Sun, Oct. 22, 11:30am) in Los Angeles.  
 
LAST WEEKEND'S TWO MATCHES: Stan State started its week with a scoreless draw at Cal Poly Humboldt.  
Malia Allen posted ten saves en route to her first complete shutout in goal as a Warrior. The Warriors finished the week with a 3-1 victory over Sonoma State at home on Sunday.

Alexis Brewah scored goal for the victors and Brewah and 
Aliah Avilla each had assists.  The second goal for the Warriors was an own goal.  Allen had a season high eleven saves in goal for Stan State.  
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State enters this week with a 5-5-2 overall record and a 2-2-2 CCAA record.  The Warriors are tied with Cal State San Bernardino each with eight points for sixth place.  The top six teams at the end of the regular season on November 2 will receive a berth to the CCAA Soccer Championships which will run November 5, 10-12.  The first round will take place at campus sites with the semi-finals and final to take place at Cardinale Stadium on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay.  The winner of the CCAA Championships will receive a berth to the NCAA Soccer Championships.
 
Alexis Brewah leads the team with her six goals, five assists, and 17 points.  She has two of the Warriors' five game-winning goals. 
Haylee Heffner is second on the team with three goals, one assist, and seven points followed by 
Kayla Perez with three goals and six points.  
Arionna Imhoff and 
Marivic Lek-Miro are next with four points.  Imhoff has two goals and Lek-Miro has a goal and two assists.  
Malia Allen has posted a 0.82 goals against average, 32 saves, and a .889 saves percentage.  Allen has two shutouts with one complete shutout in seven matches in goal.  
Natalia Ochoa has a 1.72 goals against average with 35 saves, .714 saves percentage and has been in goal for two of the Warriors' shutouts.  
HEAD COACH GABRIEL BOLTON:  In his 19
th season at the helm of the Warriors, Bolton is 199-109-40. Last season, the Warriors went 10-4-4 overall and 7-2-2 in the CCAA and were CCAA co-regular season champions.  
Alexis Brewah was the 2022 CCAA Newcomer of the Year and 
Sabrina Cabrera was the CAA Midfielder of the Year.  Brewah and Cabrera each were named to the First Team All-CCAA and the All-Region Team.  Four Warriors were selected to the Honorable Mention Team in 
Alexia Estrada, 
Summer England, 
Sunny Mancilla, and 
Jocelyn Lopez.  In 2013, Bolton was named the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year and the CCAA Coach of the Year.  He is the Warriors Women's Soccer All-Time Winningest Coach. 
 
Bolton has guided the Warriors to nine postseason appearances, including four NCAA Tournaments and nine California Collegiate Athletic Association championship tournaments. He led the program to an unprecedented seven consecutive post-season appearances from 2010-16, including two CCAA Tournament titles and the 2014 NCAA West Region Championship.
  
PICKED TO WIN THE CCAA:  Stan State women's soccer is picked to win the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) according to the 2023 CCAA Preseason Women's Soccer Poll that was released by the conference office today.  The Warriors, under the direction of head coach 
Gabriel Bolton, received four of the twelve first place votes.
 
CCAA STATS:  Alexis Brewah and 
Natalia Ochoa are in the top ten in the CCAA in ten statistical categories.  Brewah is tied for second in goals (six), assists (five), and points (17).  She is third in assists per game (.385) and points per game (1.31) while she is fifth in goals per game (.462).  Ochoa is fifth in saves per game (3.50), tied for fifth in saves (35), tied for ninth in saves percentage (.714), and tenth in goals against average (1.719).

UPDATE ON THE TOROS:  Cal State Dominguez Hills enters Friday's match with the Warriors with a 1-10-2 overall record and a 0-5-1 CCAA record.  The Toros are tied for 11
th place in the CCAA with Sonoma State each with one point.  They lost 4-0 at Cal State San Bernardino and 2-0 at home to Cal Poly Pomona.  Cynthia Ramirez with two goals, one assist, and five points followed by Alyssa Villalobos has two goals for four points.  Abigail Escalante has a 2.58 goals against average with 38 saves and a .655 saves percentage in ten matches.  Kylie Yuzon has a 3.04 goals against average with a .742 saves percentage and 46 saves in eight matches in goal.  
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State Dominguez Hills lead the all-time series 18-11, but the Warriors have won six in a row including last year's 3-1 victory in Carson.

UPDATE ON THE GOLDEN EAGLES:  Entering its match against Chico State on Friday, Cal State Los Angeles is 5-1-6 overall and 2-0-4 in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles are tied for fourth place with Chico State each with 10 points.  Last week, they tied played to a scoreless draw at Cal Poly Pomona and a 1-1 tie at home versus Cal State San Bernardino.  Shelby Melin leads the team with her three goals, one assist, and seven points followed by Jasmin Ortiz with two goals, two assists, and six points.  Taesja Poopao has a 0.51 goals against average with 32 saves, .842 saves percentage, and six shutouts in goal in twelve matches. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  Cal State Los Angeles lead the all-time series 11-5-4 with the Warriors.  In the last meeting in the CCAA semi-finals in Rohnert Park, the Golden Eagles defeated Stan State 1-0.  Two weeks earlier in Turlock, Stan State rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat CSULA 2-1 with two goals in the final 15 minutes.
