2/24/2026 3:11:00 PM

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State's Nino has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Female Field Athlete of the Week following a dominant showing at the Fresno Pacific Sunbird Invitational, held Feb. 20–21.  Nino captured two event titles at the meet, leading the Warriors in both throwing events she contested.

She opened the weekend with a first-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 14.12 meters (46 feet, 4 inches). Nino followed with another victory in the hammer throw, launching a toss of 53.62 meters (175 feet, 11 inches) to secure the top spot. Both of her marks also met the provisional qualifying standards for the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships in May.

With her performance, Nino now moves into No. 2 on the Stan State all-time top 10 list in the shot put. She currently ranks No. 10 in NCAA Division II in the indoor version of the event. She will find out on March 3 if she has earned a spot in the shot put field for the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for March 12–14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

This marks Nino's first career CCAA Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Stan State will return to action March 6–7 as the Warriors host the Kim Duyst Invitational at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium in Turlock. The meet begins Friday at 10 a.m. and continues Saturday at 9 a.m.
