TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State Warriors will commence a three-match road trip this weekend with a pair of conference matches against two nationally ranked teams in Southern California. The Warriors will face No. 21 Cal State San Bernardino this Friday, October 6 at 3pm in San Bernardino. They will continue their road trip with a 2pm starting match in Pomona this Sunday, October 8 against No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Stan State is 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA heading into this weekend in Southern California. The Warriors have scored 13 goals in their first nine matches with ten assists. They have given up eighteen goals.
Tyler Tipton leads the way with his seven goals and 14 points.
Edgar Castaneda is right behind him with three goals, one assist, and seven points followed by
Finn Hoffmann with two goals, two assists, and six points. Tipton, Castaneda, and Hoffmann each have a game-winning goal.
Leonardo Muniz has two assists for the Warriors and
Sammy Villanueva has scored a goal and added an assist.
Robby Rosas has a 2.00 goals against average with 46 saves and a .730 saves percentage.
LAST MATCHES: Stan State lost 3-0 to Cal State San Marcos on Friday.
Sebastian Castellanos had four saves in the first half and
Robby Rosas had three saves in goal in the second half. The Warriors lost to Cal State East Bay 2-0 on Sunday as the Pioneers scored their goals in the final 13 minutes of the match. Rosas had ten saves in goal for the Warriors.
FIRST-YEAR HEAD COACH: John Powell'11 returned to his alma mater as the Warriors' head men's soccer coach when he was hired this Spring after spending the past two seasons on the sidelines at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. Powell guided the Nighthawks to a 15-4-3 record this season including an appearance in the NCAA Division II Super Region Four Final (Elite Eight). He was the 2022 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year and guided the Nighthawks to their best season in program history. They captured the GNAC regular season title and won three NCAA Division II Tournament matches, before losing 1-0 to the National Champion Runner-up, Colorado State-Pueblo. He coached twelve All-GNAC honorees and four All-Region players during his two-years at NNU. In his four seasons coaching at Stan State and Northwest Nazarene with a 30-25-3 overall record.

CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO: The 21
st ranked Yotes are 5-1-2 and 2-0 in the CCAA after defeating Sonoma State 1-0 and Cal Poly Humboldt 3-2 on the road this weekend. Nicklaus Sullivan leads the team with his three goals, five assists and 11 points. Brian Castillo is right behind him with four goals, one assist, and nine points followed by Jonathan Mayen (one goal, five points, seven points) and Tony Negrete (three goals, six points). Sullivan and Victor Chavez each have two game-winning goals this season. Aiden Hanes has posted a 1.20 goals against average with 15 saves, one shutout, and a .714 saves percentage in five matches.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State San Bernardino leads the all-time series with the Warriors 8-4-3. Stan State defeated the Yotes on September 23, 2022, 3-0 in San Bernardino.

CAL POLY POMONA: The 14
th ranked Broncos are 6-0-2 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA after defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 2-0 and Sonoma State 3-1 over the weekend. Paul Henschke leads the team with his four goals, six assists, and14 points. Mads Frederiksen is next with his four goals, two assists, and ten points followed by Jakob Singh with four goalsf or eight points. Frederiksen has two game-winning goals and Henschke and Singh each have one. Luke Garciduenas has posted a 0.39 goals against average with eight saves, four shutouts, and a .800 saves percentage.
