Warriors Start Off Home Stand with Three-Set Loss to SF State

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State started off its four-match home stand with a three-set loss to the visiting SF State Gators (19-25, 16-25, 20-25) in a CCAA match-up this evening at The Fitz.  The Warriors will continue the home stand tomorrow at 5pm when they host No. 11 Cal State San Bernardino.
 
FIRST SET:  The Gators took an 8-4 lead to begin the match.  They increased their lead to 12-6 on a Trinity Yates' kill.  An Emily Vander Weide kill cut the deficit to 14-10, but the visitors increased their lead to 24-18 on a kill by Aidan Goodrich. A kill by Mariah Iosua cut the Gator lead to 24-19, but a Tamiya Wilson kill finished off the set for SF State, 25-19.
 
SECOND SET:  SF State took a 10-6 lead in the second set.  Stan State (6-12, 3-8 CCAA) recorded the next three points to cut the deficit to 10-9.  The guests came right back and took a 17-9 lead with seven straight points including two on service aces by Kimberly DeBoer.  Stan State cut the Gator lead to 21-14, but the guests took four of the next points to take the set 25-16 and to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
THIRD SET:  The third set was back and forth until a Makenna Carrillo gave the Warriors a 12-9 lead.  Stan State scored the next five points to take a 14-12 lead.  A kill by Mariah Iosua tied the set at 17-17.  Sf State recorded seven of the next eight points to take a 24-18 lead.  A kill by Carrillo and a block by Alex Byrd cut the Gator lead to 24-10, but a Rebecca Rendal finished the set and match off for the Gators, 25-20 and 3-0.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE:  Four Warriors have recorded double-doubles this season in Haley BurdoEyriana EatmonMariah Iosua, and Ellison Weaver.  Tonight, Burdo recorded her 27th of her career and third of the season.  Heading into tomorrow's match with CSUSB, Eatmon has 14 double-doubles in her career and one this season), Ellison Weaver (six career, two season), and Iosua (four career, three season).  Gabby Rawson has recorded one double-double in her career. 
 
WARRIOR LEADERS:  Ellison Weaver had 11 kills and Alex Byrd had three blocks fo rhte Warriors.  Haley Burdo added 16 assists and 10 digs while Gabby Rawson had 11 digs.  
 
UP NEXT:  Stan State will host No. 11 Cal State San Bernardino tomorrow at 5pm.  The Yotes defeated Chico State this evening 25-19, 25-21, 25-11 in Chico.
