TURLOCK, Calif.--- The nationally ranked Cal State San Bernardino Yotes (17-3, 10-2 CCAA) swept the Stan State Warriors (27-29, 18-25, 15-25) this evening in a CCAA match-up at The Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock.
Ellison Weaver led the Warriors with 10 kills while
Gabby Rawson added 16 digs.
FIRST SET: The Yotes jumped out to a 9-2 lead to start the match. Stan State came right back and cut the deficit to 17-14 on a
Samaya Royal service ace. The Yotes rallied for four straight points capped by a Jenna Patton kill to increase their lead to 21-14. The Warriors recorded seven of the next nine points capped by a combined block by Royal and
Mariah Iosua to cut the deficit to 23-21. An Iosua kill capped a four-point rally by the Warriors to give Stan State a 25-24 lead. The match went back and forth the Yotes took the set's final two points to take the first set 29-27.
SECOND SET: The second set was even until the visitors took a 19-13 lead on a Trinity Sheridan kill. Stan State (8-13, 3-9 CCAA cut the Yotes' lead to 23-17, but the guests finished the set off taking two of the final three points to take the set 25-18 and to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
THIRD SET: Once again, the third set was even until the Yotes took a 19-11 lead on a Jenna Patton kill. A
Makenna Carrillo kill cut the deficit to 20-11. CSUSB took five of the final nine points to take the set 25-15 and to take a 3-0 match victory.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Four Warriors have recorded double-doubles this season in
Haley Burdo,
Eyriana Eatmon,
Mariah Iosua, and
Ellison Weaver. Tonight, Burdo recorded her 27
th of her career and third of the season. Heading into tomorrow's match with CSUSB, Eatmon has 14 double-doubles in her career and one this season),
Ellison Weaver (six career, two season), and Iosua (four career, three season).
Gabby Rawson has recorded one double-double in her career.
WARRIOR LEADERS: Ellison Weaver had 10 kills to lead Stan State.
Haley Burdo added 12 assists and
Gabby Rawson recorded 16 digs.
Samaya Royal and
Alex Byrd each had four total blocks.
UP NEXT: Stan State continue its home stand next week with a pair of CCAA matches against Cal State San Marcos and No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona. The Warriors will host Cal State San Marcos on Friday, October 27 at 5pm in their Annual Dig Pink Match. They will finish off their home stand with a 2pm starting match against No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, October 28.
