Gabriel Bolton recorded career victory No. 200 this evening in the Warriors' 2-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif.
Marivic Lek-Miro and
Aliah Avilla each scored the Warriors' goals.
Malia Allen recorded four saves in goal en route to her second complete shutout in goal for the victors.
FIRST HALF: Stan State had the first shot on goal in the 12
th minute when
Arionna Imhoff's attempt was stopped by the Toros' Abigial Escalante. The Warriors had another chance for the lead in the 25
th minute when
Alexis Brewah's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Toros' keeper. Less than two minutes later,
Marivic Lek-Miro gave the Warriors the 1-0 lead on a through ball by
Aliah Avilla.
Malia Allen made her first save in the 31
st minute on a shot on on goal attempt by Aylssa Villalobos. Stan State had a chance to double its lead in the 38
th minute when
Jackie Sanchez's shot sailed high and the match went into the half with the Warriors leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF: Cal State Dominguez Hills (1-11-2, 0-5-1 CCAA) had a chance to tie the match early in the new half when Cynthia Sanchez's shot was stopped by the Warrior keeper. In the 52
nd, minute, the Warriors doubled their lead on a goal by
Aliah Avilla on a ball from
Kayla Perez and
Alexis Brewah.
Malia Allen made another save in the 68
th minute stopping Alyssa Villalobs shot on goal attempt. The Toros had a final chance to cut into the Warrior lead in the 89
th minute when Allen made her fourth save stopping Lauryn Bailey's shot on goal attempt as Stan State took the 2-0 victory.
STATS: Stan State held a 14-11 shot advantage including 5-4 in shots on goal over the Toros. The Warriors had a 4-1 corner kick advantage.
Malia Allen had four saves in goal for the guests.
HEAD COACH GABRIEL BOLTON: With the 2-0 victory, nineteenth-year head coach
Gabriel Bolton is 200-109-40 on the sidelines for Stan State. Bolton has coached 15 winning seasons during his career for the Warriors.
TIED FOR FIFTH PLACE: With four matches left in the regular season, Stan State is in a tie for fifth place with Cal State San Bernardino with 11 points. They are two points out of third place (Cal State Los Angeles and Cal Poly Humboldt) and four out of second place (Cal State San Marcos). Cal Poly Pomona is in first place with 19 points (6-0-1). The top six teams at the end of the regular season on November 2 will receive a berth to the 2023 CCAA Soccer Championships.
UP NEXT: Stan State travels to Los Angeles this Sunday, October 22 for a 11:30am starting match with Cal State Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles defeated Chico State 2-0 this evening in Los Angeles.
