LOS ANGELES, Calif. ---- Stan State's defense posted its third shutout in the Warriors' last four matches and second consecutive one in their scoreless draw at Cal State Los Angeles this afternoon. Junior transfer
Malia Allen had five saves in goal for the visitors for her third complete shutout of the season.
FIRST HALF: Cal State Los Angeles (6-1-7, 3-0-5 CCAA) had the first chance for the lead in the seventh minute when
Malia Allen stopped Peytyn Mize's shot on goal attempt. Allen made another save in the 21
stminute, this time on Destiny's Moedano's attempt to give the hosts the 1-0 lead. The Warriors had two chances for the lead late in the half, but
Haylee Heffner's attempt sailed high of the net as did
Alexis Brewah's as the match went into the half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Thaiz Hernandez looked like she was going to give the Golden Eagles the lead, but
Malia Allen made one of her five saves in the 50
th minute. She made another stop in the 63
rd minute.
Kaia Mills had two chances to give Stan State (6-5-4, 3-2-3 CCAA) the lead but both shot attempts went wide of the net in the 71
st minute. Allen made her final save in the 81
st minute as Jasmin Ortiz's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Warrior keeper and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
SHUTOUTS: Stan State has recorded five shutouts this season with three of them being scoreless draws (Saint Martin's, Cal Poly Humboldt, and Cal State Los Angeles).
Malia Allen has three complete shutouts in goal for the Warriors while she has been a part of the other two with
Natalia Ochoa.
ONE POINT OUT: With three matches left in the regular season, the Warriors are in eighth place with 12 points. They are one point out of fifth place is held by Cal Poly Humboldt, Chico State, and Cal State East Bay. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a berth to the 2023 CCAA Women's Soccer Championships.
UP NEXT: Stan State returns home for the final time this regular season this Friday and Sunday, October 27 and 29. The Warriors will host Cal State Monterey Bay this Friday, October 27 at 4:30pm.
