Warriors to Finish Home Stand with CSUSM and No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona

Dig Pink Match Set for This Friday, October 27 at 5pm vs. Cal State San Marcos

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State will finish off its four-match home stand this weekend this Friday, October 27 in the Warriors' Annual Dig Pink Match versus Cal State San Marcos (5pm) and Saturday, October 28 versus No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona (2pm).   
 
RECAP OF WEEK:  The Warriors started off their home stand with a pair of three-set losses to San Francisco State (19-25, 16-25, 20-25) on Friday and No. 11 Cal State San Bernardino (27-29, 18-25, 15-25) on Saturday.  Ellison Weaver had 21 kills and Mariah Iosua recorded 15 in the two matches for Stan State.  Haley Burdo had 28 assists and 18 digs with Gabby Rawson recording 27 digs.  Alex Byrd had seven total blocks including two solos to lead the way for the Warriors.  
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State is 8-13 overall and 3-9 in the CCAA which places them in tenth place with six matches left in the regular season.  The Warriors are four games out of fifth place which is currently held by Cal State San Marcos and Sonoma State.  The top six teams on November 11 in the regular season standings will receive a berth to the CCAA Volleyball Championships. 
 
Mariah Iosua's 160 kills lead the Warriors with Ellison Weaver right behind her with 159 followed by Alex Byrd with 109 and Isabella Saucedo with 106.  Haley Burdo has 380 assists and Eyriana Eatmon has 240 assists to lead the way for Stan State.  Eatmon leads the team with her 36 service aces with Burdo recording 19 and Autumn Kirby and Gabby Rawson each with 17.  Rawson leads the Warriors with her 397 digs followed by Burdo with 149 and Rein Bocage with 145.  Byrd has recorded a team leading 87 total blocks with Kirby next with 42 and Samaya Royal with 36.  
 
HEAD COACH LAUREN FLOWERS:  In her first season in 2022 at the helm of the Warrior volleyball team became Stan State's all-time winningest team with its .655 winning percentage. The Warriors finished with a 19-10 overall record with the 19 wins tying for the most in school history.  They finished in sixth place and qualified for the CCAA Volleyball Championships.  In her two seasons, Flowers is 27-23. With the Warriors' win over then No. 21 Alaska Anchorage in the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic, Flowers has guided Stan State so three victories over top 25 teams.  In 2022, the Warriors defeated then No. 25 Winona State (3-0 in Carson) and No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino (3-2 in Turlock).
 
DIG PINK MATCH:  Stan State, the CCAA, and Molten USA are proud to partner during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Many women can survive breast cancer if it's found and treated early. Join us on Friday, October 27  at 5 p.m. when the Warriors take on Cal State San Marcos as we celebrate Dig Pink and raise awareness about breast cancer.
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Gabby Rawson is in sixth place on the Warriors' career list in digs with 980.  Haley Burdo is in sixth place with 112 service aces and eighth with 1522 assists.  Sitting in sixth place on the Warriors' career list with 49 solo blocks in Alex Byrd.   
 
RANKED NATIONALLY:  The duo of Gabby Rawson and Alex Byrd are ranked in the top 30 in the NCAA Division II in three statistical categories.  Rawson is ninth with her 5.44 digs/set average and 27th with her 370 total digs. Byrd is 29th with her 80 total blocks.    
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Four Warriors have recorded double-doubles in Haley Burdo, Eyriana Eatmon, Mariah Iosua, and Ellison Weaver.  Eatmon has 14 double-doubles in her career and one this season at Stan State while Burdo (27 career, three season), Ellison Weaver (six career, two season), and Iosua (four career, three season).  Gabby Rawson has recorded one double-double in her career. 

HONORS:  Emily Vander Weide was named to the seven-team Stanislaus State Labor Day Volleyball Tournament. For the third time in her career, Gabby Rawson was named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 28-September 3 and the week of September 4-10. She has been named the Defensive Player of the Week five times during her career as a Warrior.  Rawson was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Alaska.
 
AMONGST THE CONFERENCE LEADERS:  The trio of Alex Byrd, Eyriana Eatmon, and Gabby Rawson are in the top three in the CCAA in six statistical categories.  Byrd leads the conference in blocks (87) and blocks/set (1.16).  Rawson leads the CCAA in digs (397) and digs/set (5.36).  Eatmon is second in the conference with her 36 service aces and 0.49 service aces/set.     
 
UPDATE ON THE COUGARS:  Cal State San Marcos is 9-11 overall and 7-5 in the CCAA after going 2-0 last week at home with a five-set win over Sonoma State and a three-set victory over Cal Poly Humboldt.   Trinity Barr leads the team with her 253 kills while Tori Goff has a team high 669 assists.  Goff also leads the team with her 31 service aces. Mia Christensen has a team leading 261 digs and Isabelle Bakken has a team leading 51 total blocks.  
 
FIRST TIME:  The Cougars defeated Stan State in three sets (26-28, 23-25, 25-27) on Sept. 30 in San Marcos.  Ellison Weaver had 11 kills and nine digs with Rein Bocage recording four service aces.  Cal State San Marcos lead the all-time series 8-4 with the Warriors defeating the Cougars in five sets on Oct. 22, 2022, in San Marcos.  
 
UPDATE ON THE NO. 20 BRONCOS:  The 20th ranked Cal Poly Pomona Broncos are 14-5 overall and 8-4 in the CCAA after going 1-1 last week at home.  The Broncos defeated Cal Poly Humboldt in four sets and lost in five sets to Sonoma State.  Samantha Campion leads the team with her 259 kills followed by Madison Novak with 224.  Caitie Mueller has a team high 710 assists and Jenna O'Shea leads CPP with her 27 service aces.  Avery Percival has a team leading 253 digs and Alexia Athans has 57 total blocks followed by Kaitian Tucker with 56. 
 
FIRST TIME: Stan State lost in three sets (15-25, 16-25, 11-25) at Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 29, 2023.  Cal Poly Pomona leads the all-time series 22-6. The last Stan State victory was on Nov. 15, 2019, a three-set victory in Pomona.

UP NEXT:  After Saturday's match versus Cal Poly Pomona, the Warriors will be back on the road.  They will be at Sonoma State (Nov. 2) and Cal Poly Humboldt (Nov. 4). Stan State will return home for its final two matches of the 2023 regular season on Nov. 10 versus nationally ranked Cal State Los Angeles and Nov. 11 versus Cal State Dominguez Hills.
