TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State was victorious on its Senior Day with a 5-2 victory over the visiting SF State Gators.
Tyler Tipton recorded a brace to break the Warriors' single season goals scored record with 14 in the NCAA Division II era of Stan State men's soccer.
FIRST HALF: The Warriors took the 1-0 lead in the fourth minute on
Tyler Tipton's first of two goals off a cross from
Alexis Ramirez. The hosts doubled their lead in the 12
th minute on
Edgar Castaneda's fifth goal of the season off another cross from Ramirez. San Francisco State (3-10-3, 1-7-2 CCAA) cut the Warrior lead in half on a goal by Emerson Trujillo off a cross from Julio Gonzalez-Ponce in the 16
th minute. Eight minutes later, the Gators tied the match at 2-2 on a penalty kick goal by Angel Herrera. Stan State had a chance to retake the lead in the 35
th minute, but Castaneda's shot was stopped by the Gators' Fernando Escobedo Guzman. One minute later,
Alecxander Cuellar's unassisted goal gave the Warriors a 3-2 lead. It looked like the Warriors were going to double their lead when
Adam Mockridge had his shot on goal stopped by the Gators' keeper. In the 37
th minute, Mockridge connected on a pass from Castaneda for his first goal of the season to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead to send the match into the half with the hosts leading.
SECOND HALF: The Gators had two chances 20 minutes into the second half to cut into the Warrior lead but
Robby Rosas stopped both chances by Pedro Maura and Julio Gonzalez Ponce. Stan State (4-10-3, 1-6-3 CCAA) took a 5-2 lead in the 76
th minute on

Kekoa Kiesling. The visitors had another chance in the final minutes to cut into the Warrior lead, but
Sebastian Castellanos stopped Issay Bravo's attempt as the hosts took the 5-2 Senior Day victory.
STATS: Robby Rosas had three saves in 68 minutes in goal for the Warriors with
Sebastian Castellanos recording one save in 22 minutes. Fernando Escobedo-Guzman had five saves in goal for SF State. Stan State out-shot the Gators 12-11 including 10-6 in shot on goal attempts. SF State had a 11-6 corner kick advantage.
SINGLE SEASON LEADER IN D2 ERA: With his two goals this afternoon,
Tyler Tipton broke the Warrior record for goals in a single season with 14 in the NCAA DII ERA of Stan State men's soccer. He broke Victor Regolado (2009) record of 13 in a season.

LAST MATCH: Stan State will travel to Chico this Thursday, November 2 for its 11:30am starting regular season finale with the No. 5 Chico State Wildcats. The Warriors lost to the Wildcats, 3-2, earlier this season in a non-conference match in Turlock. Chico State played to a 1-1 draw with No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay this afternoon in Chico.
