TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State's defense posted its sixth shutout of the season and third in its last four matches in the Warriors' 3-0 victory over San Francisco State on Senior Day at Warrior Stadium. With the victory, the hosts kept their hopes alive for a berth in the six-team 2023 CCAA Women's Soccer Championships. The Warriors are tied for sixth place with Cal Poly Humboldt each with 16 points with one match left in the regular season. Stan State will end its regular season at Chico State this Thursday, November 2 at 2pm.
FIRST HALF: San Francisco State (3-12-2, 2-7-1 CCAA) had the match's first chance for the early iead in the ninth minute when
Malia Allen made one of her three saves on the day stopping Grace Messenger's shot on goal attempt. The Warriors took the 1-0 lead in the 15
th minute when
Alisha Garcia connected on a double assist by
Sunny Mancilla and
Alexis Brewah. Both
Kayla Perez and
Aliah Avilla each had chances to double the Warrior lead between the 19
th and 23rrd minutes but the Gators' Kylie Tone stopped both attempts. Stan State doubled its lead in the 31
st minute on a goal by
Marivic Lek-Miro's third goal of the season off of Brewah's second assist in the match. Lek-Miro had a chance for a brace but Tone stopped the attempt in the 40
th minute to send the match into the half with Stan State leading 2-0.
SECOND HALF: The Gators had a chance to cut into the Warrior lead in the 56
th minute when
Malia Allen stopped Alyna Flores' shot on goal attempt.
Haylee Heffner had a chance to increase the hosts' lead to 3-0 when Kylie Tone stopped her shot on goal attempt. Stan State (7-5-5, 4-2-4 CCAA) took a 3-0 lead when Heffner connected on her fourth goal of the season off an assist from
Aliah Avilla with seven minutes left in the match. Stan State held on for the 3-0 victory.
STATS: Malia Allen had three saves in goal en route to her fourth shutout in goal for the Warriors. Kyle Tone had five saves in goal for SF State. Stan State out-shot the Gators 17-13 including 8-3 in shot on goal attempts. The hosts had a 6-0 corner kick advantage.
TIE FOR SIXTH PLACE: With just one match left in the regular season, the Warriors are tied for sixth place in the CCAA regular season standings with Cal Poly Humboldt. The top six teams at the end of the regular season this Thursday, November 2 will receive a berth to the CCAA Soccer Championships, November 5, 10-12. Stan State will finish its regular season at Chico State on Thursday while Cal Poly Humboldt is at Sonoma State.

Helaina Garcia, and
Jackie Sanchez.
LAST MATCH: Stan State will travel to Chico this Thursday, November 2 for its 2pm starting regular season finale with the Chico State Wildcats. The Warriors lost to Chico State 2-1 earlier this season in a non-conference match in Turlock. The Wildcats scored the game-winner in the 86
th minute on a goal by Hannah Pieri. Chico State defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 1-0 today in Chico on a Natalie Mendoza penalty kick goal.
