TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State will travel to Chico, Calif., for its regular season finale this Thursday, November 2 for a 11:30am starting match with No. 11 Chico State. The Warriors defeated SF State 5-2 on Senior Day on Sunday in their final home match of the 2023 regular season.
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Stan State is 4-10-3 and 1-6-3 conference record heading into its final match in Chico this Thursday.
Tyler Tipton leads the team with his conference leading 14 goals and 28 points.
Edgar Castaneda is second on the team with five goals, three assists, and 17 points followed by
Finn Hoffmann with two goals, two assists, and six points. Tipton, Castaneda, Hoffmann, and
Alecxander Cuellar each have a game-winning goal this season.
Robby Rosas has a 2.10 goals against average with 83 saves, .728 saves percentage, and two shutouts in 16 matches.
Sebastian Castellanos has a 3.56 goals against average with ten saves and .556 saves percentage in four matches.
LAST MATCHES: Stan State went 1-1 in its last two home matches of the regular season. The Warriors started the week with a 3-1 loss to No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday.
Tyler Tipton scored the match's first goal on a cross from Alecxander Cueller. The Otters scored three unanswered goals including two in the final ten minutes to secure the 3-1 victory. Stan State rebounded with a 5-2 victory over SF State on Senior Day.

FIRST-YEAR HEAD COACH: John Powell'11 returned to his alma mater as the Warriors' head men's soccer coach when he was hired this Spring after spending the past two seasons on the sidelines at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. Powell guided the Nighthawks to a 15-4-3 record this season including an appearance in the NCAA Division II Super Region Four Final (Elite Eight). He was the 2022 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year and guided the Nighthawks to their best season in program history. They captured the GNAC regular season title and won three NCAA Division II Tournament matches, before losing 1-0 to the National Champion Runner-up, Colorado State-Pueblo. He coached twelve All-GNAC honorees and four All-Region players during his two-years at NNU. In his four seasons coaching at Stan State and Northwest Nazarene with a 30-28-6 overall record.
CCAA LEADERS: Tyler Tipton and
Robby Rosas are in the top ten in the CCAA eight statistical categories. Tipton leads the CCAA in goals (14), goals per game (.875), points (28) and points per game (1.57). Rosas leads the CCAA in saves per game (5.19) and saves (83). He is seventh in saves percentage (.728) and tenth in goals against average (2.10).
NATIONAL LEADERS: In the latest NCAA Division II statistical report,
Tyler Tipton and
Robby Rosas are in the top 20 in five categories. Tipton is fourth in shot accuracy (.725), fifth in goals (14), tenth in goals per game (0.82), and 16
th in total points (28). Rosas is tenth with his 83 saves.
TIPTON/ROSAS: Tyler Tipton broke the school record for goals in a single season in the NCAA Division II era of Warrior men's soccer with his three goals this weekend. He now has 14 this season which is the record. Tipton is in tie for the points record with Daniel Kuczynski (2015), Jose Ramirez (2015), and Victor Regalado (2009) each with 28 points.
Robby Rosas is fourth on the single season list with 83 saves.
HONORS: For his performance the week of September 18-24,
Tyler Tipton was named the Pixellot/CCAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the week. Tipton scored three of the five goals in Stan State's 1-1 week at home against Academy of Art and then No. 5 Chico State. He started the week scoring two goals in the Warriors' 3-1 victory over Academy of Art. The sophomore forward finished the week scoring a goal in Stan State's 3-2 loss to the nationally ranked Wildcats.
CHICO STATE: The eleventh ranked Chico State Wildcats enter Thursday's match with the Warriors with a 11-1-5 overall record and a 4-1-5 CCAA record. They went 1-0-1 last week at home against SF State (2-1 victory) and No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay (1-1 draw). Miles Rice leads the Wildcats with his eight goals, three assists, three game-winning goals, and 19 points. Preston Moll is second on the team with his five goals, one assist, two game-winning goals, and 11 points. Adrian Fontanelli is third with his one goal, team leading eight assists, and ten points. Emanual Padilla has a 0.54 goals against average with 58 saves, .866 saves percentage, and nine shutouts in 17 matches.
The Wildcats clinched a berth in the CCAA Men's Soccer Championships and are fourth in the CCAA with their 17 points. The top three teams in the CCAA heading into Thursday's match are Cal State Los Angeles (27 points), Cal Poly Pomona (23 points), and Cal State Monterey Bay (20 points). Sitting in a tie for fifth place is Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State San Marcos each with 14 points followed by Sonoma State with 13 points.
LAST TIME: Chico State defeated the Warriors 3-2 in a non-conference match on September 23. Adrian Fontanelli, Miles Rice, and Preston Moll all scored the Wildcats' goals with Moll's being the game-winner in the 58
th minute.

Ryan Rosas and
Finn Hoffmann each assisted on Villanueva's goal in the 51
st minute.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Wildcats lead the all-time series with Stan State 20-8-2. Chico State has won the last seven meetings between the two teams. The Warriors' last victory over the Wildcats was on Oct. 4, 2015, in Chico a 1-0 Stan State victory. Luis Hernandez scored the Warriors' goal in the 44
