Stan State to Travel to Northern California to Face Seawolves and Jacks

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State's volleyball team will be on the road for the final time this regular season with a pair of conference matches in Northern California.  The Warriors will face Sonoma State this Thursday, November 2 in a 6pm starting match in Rohnert Park.  They will finish off their road trip on Saturday, November 4 with a 5pm starting match with Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata.  
 
RECAP OF WEEK:  The Warriors went 0-2 in their final two home matches of a four-match home stand.  They lost in three sets in their Dig Pink Match to Cal State San Marcos on Friday (18-25, 22-25, 21-25).  Ellison Weaver had a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs.  Haley Burdo had 21 assists while Gabby Rawson had 16 digs.  They finished the week with a three-set loss to No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona (19-25, 20-25, 23-25).  Rawson had 14 digs and Weaver recorded 12 for the hosts.    
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State is 8-15 overall and 3-11 in the CCAA.  Ellison Weaver leads the team with her 177 kills followed by Mariah Iosua with 169.  Alex Byrd has recorded 119 kills with Isabella Saucedo adding 113.  Haley Burdo leads Stan State with her 415 assists while Eyriana Eatmon has 257.  Eatmon leads the team with her 36 service aces while Gabby Rawson has a team high 427 digs.  Byrd leads the team with her 94 total blocks.
 
HEAD COACH LAUREN FLOWERS:  In her first season in 2022 at the helm of the Warrior volleyball team became Stan State's all-time winningest team with its .655 winning percentage. The Warriors finished with a 19-10 overall record with the 19 wins tying for the most in school history.  They finished in sixth place and qualified for the CCAA Volleyball Championships.  In her two seasons, Flowers is 27-25. With the Warriors' win over then No. 21 Alaska Anchorage in the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic, Flowers has guided Stan State so three victories over top 25 teams.  In 2022, the Warriors defeated then No. 25 Winona State (3-0 in Carson) and No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino (3-2 in Turlock).
 
1,000 DIG CLUB:  With her 30 digs last weekend, Gabby Rawson became the sixth Warrior volleyball player to record 1,000 digs in her career for Stan State.  Rawson has 1,010 digs in her career heading into this week's matches.  She is in sixth place on the Warrior career list.  
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Besides Gabby Rawson being into the top ten on Stan State career lists, Haley Burdo and Alex Byrd are in the top ten in service aces, assists and solo blocks.  Haley Burdo is in sixth place with 114 service aces and eighth with 1557 assists.  Sitting in sixth place on the Warriors' career list with 50 solo blocks in Alex Byrd.   
 
RANKED NATIONALLY:  The duo of Gabby Rawson and Alex Byrd are ranked in the top 30 in the NCAA Division II in four statistical categories.  Rawson is 13th with her 5.34 digs per set average and 33rd with her 427 digs.  Byrd is 23rd with her 1.16 blocks per set average and 32nd with her 94 total blocks.      
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Four Warriors have recorded double-doubles in Haley Burdo, Eyriana Eatmon, Mariah Iosua, and Ellison Weaver.  Eatmon has 14 double-doubles in her career and one this season at Stan State while Burdo (27 career, three season), Ellison Weaver (seven career, three season), and Iosua (four career, three season).  Gabby Rawson has recorded one double-double in her career. 


HONORS:  Emily Vander Weide was named to the seven-team Stanislaus State Labor Day Volleyball Tournament. For the third time in her career, Gabby Rawson was named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 28-September 3 and the week of September 4-10. She has been named the Defensive Player of the Week five times during her career as a Warrior.  Rawson was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Alaska.
 
AMONGST THE CONFERENCE LEADERS:  The trio of Alex Byrd, Eyriana Eatmon, and Gabby Rawson are in the top three in the CCAA in six statistical categories.  Byrd leads the CCAA with her 94 total blocks and 1.16 blocks per set average.  Rawson is the CCAA leader with her 427 digs and 5.34 digs per set average.  Eatmon is tied for second with her .46 service aces per set average and third with her 36 service aces.  
 
UPDATE ON THE SEAWOLVES:  Sonoma State is 14-7 overall and 9-5 in the CCAA.  They are 5-1 in their last six matches including sweeping this weekend's matches at home versus Cal State Monterey Bay in three and Cal State East Bay in five.  Jaden Krist leads the team with her 228 kills while Jen Trephan has a team high 474 assists.  Brynna Slayton has a team high 34 service aces with Riley Beyma leading the team with her 281 digs.  Leilani Hallman has 85 total blocks to lead Sonoma State.  
 
FIRST TIME:  Stan State swept the Seawolves in three sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-22) on Sept. 23 in Turlock behind Eyriana Eatmon's seven service aces.  Mariah Iosua had a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs.  Alex Byrd recorded six total blocks while Gabby Rawson had 17 digs.  Sonoma State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 25-5.   
 
UPDATE ON THE JACKS:  Cal Poly Humboldt enters its Thursday match with Chico State with a 5-17 overall record and a 2-12 CCAA record.  The Jacks went 0-2 last week at home with four-set losses to Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.  Awelina Fakalata leads the team with her 308 kills while Kyra Slavik has a team high 636 assists.  Lindsay McLaughlin has recorded a team leading 35 service aces to go with Mina Barajas' team high 303 digs.  Avery McIntyre leads the Jacks with her 54 total blocks.  
 
FIRST TIME: Stan State lost in five sets to Cal Poly Humboldt on Sept. 22 in Turlock (21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 11-15).  Emily Vander Weide recorded a team high 12 kills to go with Gabby Rawson's 30 digs and Haley Burdo's 34 assists.  The Warriors lead the all-time series with Humboldt, 19-11.

UP NEXT:  Stan State will return home for its final two matches of the 2023 regular season on Nov. 10 versus Cal State Los Angeles at 5pm and Nov. 11 versus Cal State Dominguez Hills on Senior Day at 2pm.  Prior to the match on Saturday, the Warriors will recognize their two seniors in Eyriana Eatmon and Samaya Royal.
