HONOLULU, Hawai'i--- Northwestern Oklahoma State (6-0) outscored the Warriors 48 to 33 in the second half to key its 71-61 victory over Stan State this afternoon in each teams' second game in the Hoops in Hawai'i Thanksgiving Classic.
Liliana Marques paced the Warriors with a career high 25 points. Marques went seven-of-13 from beyond the arc and connected on four of her six attempts from the charity stripe off the bench for the Warriors.
FIRST QUARTER: Lilliana Marques gave Stan State (3-4) an early 9-5 lead six minutes into the game on a three off a pass by
Joia Armstrong. The Rangers tied the game at 9-9 on a Carly Craig lay-up with two minutes left in the quarter.
Ashley Lewis' free throw gave Stan State a 10-9 lead heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: A Carly Craig three capped a 5-1 mini-run by the Rangers to give them a 14-11 lead just two minutes into the new ten-minute period.
Lyric Richardson's lay-up cut the Ranger lead to 17-16. Back-to-back three's by Jadyn Paterson and
Asha Walker gave Stan State a 25-19 lead at the 2:32 mark of the second quarter. A three by
Liliana Marques off one of Patterson's career high 11 assists increased Stan State's lead to 28-21. Camille Thomas made two free throws to cut the Warrior lead to 28-23 heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: The Rangers started the second half on a 7-0 run to take a 30-28 just two minutes into the third quarter. A three by
Asha Walker off another assist from
Jadyn Patterson gave Stan State a 36-34 lead. The game went back and forth the final minutes of the quarter with Camille Thomas' lay-up in the final seconds giving the Rangers a 45-41 lead into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Northwestern Oklahoma State increased its lead to 47-41 on a Nikya Orange lay-up to begin the fourth quarter. Back-to-back treys by
Liliana Marques and
Kalyn Harris tied the game at 47-47 at the 7:31 mark of the third quarter.
Asha Walkers' jumper off her own steal gave Stan State a 49-47, but the Rangers retook the lead, 50-49, on an old-fashioned three-point play by Faith Simpson. Northwestern Oklahoma State increased its lead to 54-50 on consecutive lay-ups by Simpson and Josena Frame. Marques' two free throws cut the deficit to 54-52, but the Rangers increased their lead to 58-52 mid-way through the final quarter. Stan State didn't go away as the Warriors cut their deficit to 58-55 on a
Jadyn Patterson three off a Harris assist with a little under four minutes to go in the game. Simpson's lay-up increased Northwestern Oklahoma State's lead to 62-56 with just two minutes to go in regulation. A three by Marques off a Patterson assist cut the Ranger lead to 62-59 at the two-minute mark of the quarter. The Rangers finished the game outscoring the Warriors 9-2 including going five-for-six from the line for the 71-61 victory.
CAREER NIGHT: Liliana Marques had a career night for the Warriors as she finished with a career high 25 points. She made a career high seven three-point field goals on 13 attempts. Marques went four-for-six from the line and had one assist in 32 minutes off the bench.
16/20: The Warriors had 16 assists on their 20 made baskets. Eleven of those came from
Jadyn Patterson, which was a career high for the Warrior sophomore.
Joia Armstrong had two assists with three different Stan State players each with one assist in
Asha Walker,
Kalyn Harris, and
Liliana Marques.

Liliana Marques leading the way going seven-for-13.

CANNED FOOD GOOD DRIVE NIGHT: The Warriors will return home to The Fitz for a 5:30pm scheduled non-conference game with Fresno Pacific this Tuesday, Nov. 28. Fans will be admitted free with the donation of a canned food good which will be donated to the Warrior Food Pantry. Stan State will host its CCAA opener after Tuesday's game with FPU this Thursday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 2. The Warriors will entertain Cal State East Bay on Thursday at 5:30pm and SF State on Saturday at 1pm.
