TURLOCK, Calif.--- After a three-game road trip to Hawai'i, Stan State returns home for three games this week beginning with a 5:30pm non-conference game with Central Valley rival, Fresno Pacific, on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The Warriors will begin CCAA play this weekend with a pair of games at The Fitz on Thursday, Nov. 30 and Sat., Dec. 2. They will host Cal State East Bay this Thursday at 5:30pm and San Francisco State at 1pm. Admission is free to the Warriors' game on Tuesday against Cal State East Bay with a donation of a canned food good which will be given the Warrior Food Pantry.
WARRIORS: Stan State is 3-4 after going 1-2 in its trip to Hawai'i over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Warriors are averaging 64.6 points per game while giving up 67.7 points per game. They are being outrebounded 41.1 to 37.9. Two Warriors are averaging double digits in scoring in
Liliana Marques (13.1 ppg) and
Mya Blake (13.0 ppg). Marques leads the team with her 13 three's made and 87.5% shooting from the line. Blake is shooting a team high 47.2% from the field and
Jadyn Patterson is shooting a team high 41.2% from three-point land.
Taylor Pilot leads the team with her 7.2 rebounding average, 23 assists, and 10 steals.
Joia Armstrong has blocked a team high eight shot.
STAN STATE HEAD COACH WAYMAN STRICKLAND: Coach Strickland enters his twelfth season at the helm of the Warrior women's basketball team. He is 113-166 in his coaching stint at Stan State. In 2013-14, he led the Warriors to one of the best turn-around seasons in program history, going from 2-25 to 13-13 and just missing out on the CCAA tournament. In February of 2017, the Warriors posted their first postseason victory since 1990 and advanced to the CCAA semifinals. He has coached 23 All-CCAA honorees including two First Team selections. Zahria Hendrix (2017-18) and Ana Burch (2013-14) were CCAA Freshman of the Year honorees. Prior to his arrival on the CSU Stanislaus campus, Strickland was the assistant coach for the women's basketball program at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton between 2009 and 2012. Before his at Delta College, Strickland was the varsity girls coach (2007-09) and varsity boys assistant coach (2002-07) at Stockton's Edison High School. Strickland spent nine years as a professional player in Europe and Asia. His accolades include being named the top point guard in the Asian Basketball Championships three times (1996-98). He was the most valuable player of the 1997 Asian Basketball Championships. He was a four-year starter at the University of San Diego from 1988 to 1992, when he amassed 1,040 career points. Currently, he still holds the third spot in the USD record book with 408 assists.
HAWAI'I: The Warriors went 1-2 in their three games to Hawai'i. They started with a 66-61 loss at Hawai'i Pacific on Tuesday evening despite
Joia Armstrong's double-double performance of 21-poitns and 11-rebounds. Stan State defeated NAIA No. 17 Eastern Oregon on Thursday in the first game of the Hoops in Hawai'i Thanksgiving Classic 69-64 in overtime.
Liliana Marques had 13 points off the bench with
Asha Walker chipping in 11 points and
Ashley Lewis adding 10 points. The Warriors finished their week in Hawai'i with a 71-61 loss to undefeated Northwestern Oklahoma State despite Marques' career high 25 points.
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Stan State junior transfer
Mya Blake was named to the Warrior Classic that took place Nov. 17-18 at The Fitzpatrick Arena. Blake led the Warriors to a 1-1 weekend while averaging 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. She had a +2.0 assist/turnover ratio in the Warriors' two games. For the weekend, Blake shot 46% from the field including connecting on two of her eight attempts from beyond the arc. She was a perfect two-for-two from the line.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Two Warriors have recorded double-doubles this season in
Taylor Pilot and
Joia Armstrong. Pilot recorded a double-double in the Warriors' game versus Simon Fraser on Nov. 18. Pilot scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Armstrong recorded her first double-double of the season in the Warriors' game at Hawai'i Pacific on Nov. 21. She scored 21 points and 11 rebounds. She went 10-for-16 from the field, blocked five shots and made her only attempt from beyond the arc. For their careers, Armstrong has three double-doubles and Pilot has two.
CAREER NIGHTS: Stan State trio of

Liliana Marques, and
Jadyn Patterson had career games in Hawai'i. Armstrong's 21-points was a career high for her in the Warriors' loss to Hawai'i Pacific on Nov. 21 as well as her ten field goals made. Marques' 25-points versus Northwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 25 was her career high to go with her seven threes made. Patterson's 11 assists set a career high for her in the Warriors' game against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
CCAA LEADERS: Stan State is third in the CCAA in three-point field goal percentage defense (26%) and field goal percentage defense (37.9%). The Warriors are fourth in three-point field goal percentage (34%), fifth in three-point field goals made per game (6.4), and sixth in blocked shots per game (2.71).
Joia Armstrong is tied for first with her eight blocked shots and second with her 49 total rebounds. She is seventh with her 1.1 blocked shots per game average.
Liliana Marques is tied for third with her 13 treys made, fifth in free throw percentage (87.5%), and eighth in three's made per game (1.9).
FRESNO PACIFIC: The Sunbirds are 4-1 entering their non-conference game with the Warriors Tuesday. Their only loss was an 86-52 defeat at the hands of Chico State on Nov. 11. FPU is averaging 70.2 points per game while giving up 66.0 points per game. The Sunbirds are outrebounding their opponents 44.2 to 34.6. Felicia Dourva leads the team with her 12.4 scoring average, ten threes made, and 40% shooting from three-point range. Maesyn Rix leads FPU with her 52.8% shooting from the field. Julie Ramirez has dished out a team high 16 assists and Jayla Green is averaging a team high 7.4 rebounds per game. Anisa Rillo has blocked a team leading four shots while Jasmine Heu has recorded a team high eight steals.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State leads the all-time series 6-0 including winning 67-60 in Turlock, Nov. 23, 2022.
Joia Armstrong had 16 points and 10 rebounds while
Liliana Marques added nine points and 12 points. The Warriors started the game on a 25-5 run in the first ten minutes of the game.
CAL STATE EAST BAY: The Pioneers are 2-3 entering its game on Thursday with Stan State. They lost 81-69 on Tuesday at Dominican. Cal State East Bay is averaging 69.4 points per game while giving up 69.8 points per game. The Pioneers are out-rebounding their opponents 42 to 37.6. Payton Sterk leads the team with her 18.6 scoring average, 38% shooting from three's, 16 treys made, and 86.4% shooting from the line. Second on the team in scoring is Jaela Richardson with her 17.8 scoring average. Sterk is tied with Abigail Cooper each with 17 assists. Camryn Washington has recorded a team high eight steals. Richardson leads the Pioneers with her eight blocked shots and 54% shooting from the field. Taylor Linzie leads East Bay with her 9.6 rebounding average.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Cal State East Bay leads the all-time series 17-6 with the Warriors. The two teams split their series last year each winning on the other's home court. East Bay won 73-63 in Turlock on January 5 while the Warriors won 68-56 in Hayward on Jan. 28 behind Marques and
Jadyn Patterson combining for 25 points.
SAN FRANCISCO STATE: The Gators are 1-3 after defeating Pacific Union 95-51 on Wednesday. They are averaging 67 points per game while giving up 69 points per game. SF State is being outrebounded 39.5 to 36.3. Alexsandra Alvarado leads the way with her 18.8 scoring average, 46.7% shooting from three-point land, and nine steals. Sage Bridges-Bey is second on the team with her 12.0 scoring average and leads the Gators with her 7.0 rebounding average. Imani Felix has dished out a team high nine steals. Kali Myers is shooting a team high 53% from the field and 85.7% from the line.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The all-time series is tied at 14-14 between the Warriors and the Gators. SF State won the last meeting on February 18 in San Francisco 86-75 despite
Joia Armstrong's 17 points. The Warriors won 74-59 in San Francisco on January 19 behind
Liliana Marques' 17 points.
