Women’s Basketball Finishes Week 3-0 After 77-72 Win Over SF State

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State finished its three-game home stand with a 77-72 victory over San Francisco State to improve to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA.  Alexis Woodson led the way with a season high 14 points off the bench.  Liliana Marques added 13 points while Jadyn Patterson added 12 points for the victors.  
 
FIRST QUARTER:  San Francisco State took an early 7-1 lead in the first minute and half of the game.  Stan State outscored the Gators 11-7 in the next five minutes to cut the deficit to 14-12.  Samaria Velazquez' jumper capped a 6-0 run by the visitors as they increased their lead to 20-12.  A three by Jadyn Patterson off a pass from Tyler Pilot cut the Gator lead to 20-15 heading into the second quarter.      
 
SECOND QUARTER:  The Warriors started the quarter on a 10-4 run capped by a Liliana Marques trey off a pass from Taylor Pilot to give the hosts a 25-24 lead four minutes into the second quarter.  Alexis Woodson's trey off a pass from Pilot increased the Warrior lead to 35-29 with just 1:59 to go in the half.    An old-fashioned three-point play by Kaylyn Harris gave the Warriors a 38-32 lead heading into the half.  
 
THIRD QUARTER:  San Francisco State (2-4, 1-1 CCAA) started the third quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the Warrior lead to 38-37.  Stan State outscored the Gators 12-6 in the next three minutes to take a 50-43 lead on a Joia Armstrong lay-up.  With 2:57 on the clock, the Warriors took a 56-48 lead on a Mya Blake jumper off a pass from Taylor Pilot.  Iman Felix's three cut the Warrior lead to 58-54.  The Warriors scored the final four points of the quarter capped by a Liiana Marques' three off another Pilot assist to take a 62-54 lead heading into the final quarter.  
 
FOURTH QUARTER:  Liliana Marques' lay-up capped a 7-0 run to begin the fourth quarter as the Warriors took a 69-54 lead mid-way through the final ten minutes.  SF State didn't go away as the Gators went on a 18-3 run capped by a Nyana Asiasi three to cut the Warrior lead to 75-72 with just 31 seconds to go in regulation.  Marques and Aunika Hornung each made a free throw as the hosts held on for a 77-72 victory.    
 
3-0:  The Warriors finished their three-game home stand 3-0 to improve to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA.  Stan State defeated Fresno Pacific 65-57, Cal State East Bay 69-46, and SF State 77-72.  
 
TRIO IN DOUBLE FIGURES:  Three Warriors scored in double figures this afternoon in Aunika Hornung (14 points), Liliana Marques (13 points), and Jadyn Patterson (12 points).  Hornung tied her career high with 14 points off the bench in 22 minutes.  She grabbed six rebounds to go with her two steals and one assist.  
 
11 TREYS:  Stan Sate went 11-for-15 from three-point land this afternoon for a 73.3%.  Jadyn Patterson was four-for-five while Alexis Woodson and Mya Blake each were two-for-two.  Liliana Marques went two-for-four and Taylor Pilot was one-for-one.
 
WON THE BATTLE OF THE BOARDS:  The Warriors won the battle of the boards 47-26 lead by Aunika Hornung's season high nine rebounds.  Joia Armstrong and Alexis Woodson each had six rebounds.  Taylor Pilot and Liliana Marques each grabbed five rebounds. 
 
UP NEXT:  Stan State will be in Southern California next week for a pair of CCAA games in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.  The Warriors will face Cal State Dominguez Hills this Thursday, December 7 for a 5:30pm with the Toros in Carson.  They will finish their road trip with a 1pm contest in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 9 against Cal State Los Angeles.  The Warriors will return home to host Seattle Pacific on Thursday, December 14 at 5:30pm in a non-conference game at The Fitz.  This will be the Warriors' Ugly Christmas Sweater Game.
