TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State Warriors (7-3) took the four-game winning series from the visiting Central Washington Wildcats by sweeping today's doubleheader 9-1 and 6-0. Koby Cardoza and
Tony Jacob picked up the wins in the starts for the Warriors. In the opener, The Warriors had 12 hits in the game with
Danny Murphy leading the way going three-for-four with two runs batted in and a run scored. Stan State had seven hits in the night cap with
Flavio Perez,
Kyle Rachels and
Robert Valdivia going a combined six-for-ten with five runs batted in and three runs scored.
GAME ONE: Today's opener was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when the Warriors erupted for five runs.
Ryan Leonesio had a lead-off single and advanced to third on a
Kyle Rachels' double.
Jonluke Goldman gave Stan State a 2-0 lead with a two-run single.
JD Madrigal doubled home Goldman to increase the Warriors' lead to 3-0.
Flavio Perez was hit by a pitch to place runners on first and second. Each runner advanced on a sacrifice bunt by
Tyler Van Dyk.
Danny Murphy drove home Madrigal and Perez to give the hosts a 5-0 lead.
Stan State (7-3) added another run in the bottom of the fourth. Leonesio had a lead-off walk and later scored on a two-out single by Goldman. Ryan Lauderdale's solo home run to lead off the seventh cut the Warrior lead to 6-1. Stan State added three more runs to take a 9-1 lead in the seventh. Murphy had a two-out single, went to second on a walk to
Robert Valdivia.
Jacob Baker walked to load the bases. Murphy scored on a wild pitch and then Leonesio drove home both Valdivia and Baker with a two-run single as the Warriors took a 9-1 lead.
Noah Chelberg pitched two scoreless innings to close out the 9-1 Warrior victory.
WARRIOR HITTING STARS: Four Stan State hitters had multiple-hit games in
Danny Murphy,
Ryan Leonesio,
Jonluke Goldman and
JD Madrigal. Murphy was three-for-four with two runs batted in and a run scored. Goldman was two-for-five with three runs batted in and a run scored. Leonesio was two-for-three with two runs batted in and two runs scored while Madrigal was
two-for-five with a run batted in and a run scored.
STAN STATE PITCHERS: Kody Cardoza picked up his first win, by pitching six scoreless innings of three-hit ball. He struck out seven and walked one.
Patrick Sweeney and
Noah Chelberg combined to pitch three innings, giving up three hits and a run while striking out two.
GAME TWO: The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the night cap in the bottom of the second inning.
Flavio Perez had a lead-off double advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Tyler Van Dyk. Perez scored on a bunt single by
Robert Valdivia.
Stan State broke the game open with a five-run third inning.
Kyle Rachels had a lead-off single. He went to second on a walk to
Kyle Rachels.
JD Madrigal reached on Wildcat error to load the baes with no outs. Perez had a two-run double to bring in Rachels and Goldman. Madrigal scored when Murphy reached on another Wildcat error. Valdivia's two-run single scored Perez and Murphy to increase the Warrior lead to 6-0.
WARRIOR HITTING STARS: Three Stan State batters had multiple-hit games in

Robert Valdivia. Perez was two-for-three with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Valdivia went two-for-three with three runs batted in and Rachels was two-for-four with a run scored.
STAN STATE PTICHERS: Tony Jacob (1-0) picked up the win in the start, pitching four innings of one-hit ball while striking out two and walking two.
Austin Balentine pitched two scoreless innings of one-hit ball while walking one.
Anthony Ramirez pitched a scoreless ninth giving up just one hit.
CCAA NEXT: Stan State will begin its CCAA season next weekend hosting pre-season No. 29 Cal State Monterey Bay Otters. The series will begin with a 6pm nine-inning game on Friday, February 24. The two teams will play a 1pm doubleheader on Saturday, February 25 (nine-inning game and seven-inning game). The series will conclude with a noon starting nine-inning game.
