TURLOCK, Calif. ---- Stan State will be hosting the 2023 CCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament this Thursday-Saturday, March 2-4 at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena on the campus of Stanislaus State University.
The action will begin this Thursday, March 2 with the quarterfinals. The semi-finals will take place this Friday, March 3. The two championship games are set for Saturday, March 4. Thursday and Friday's game times are as follows: men-12pm and 2:30pm and women-5:30pm and 8pm. The championship game times on Saturday are 5pm for the men and 8pm for the women. The winners of the CCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
The women's field consists of two top 25 teams in No. 6 Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 18 Cal State San Marcos. The 27-1 Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros captured the CCAA regular season title with their 21-1 CCAA record. The 21-5 Cal State San Marcos Cougars finished three games behind the Toros with their 18-4 CCAA record. The three to six seeded teams are 3.) Cal State Los Angeles (19-8, 16-6), 4.) Cal Poly Pomona (17-9, 14-8), 5.) Chico State (18-10, 14-8) and 6.) Sonoma State (16-12, 13-9).
The men's field consists of one top 25 team in No. 11 Cal State San Bernardino The 25-3 Coyotes captured the CCAA regular season title with their 20-2 conference record. The 18-9 Cal State San Marcos Cougars finished second in the league with their 17-5 CCAA record. The three to six teams in the men's field are 3.) San Francisco State (16-12, 12-10), 4.) Cal Poly Humboldt (13-15, 11-11), 5.) Sonoma State (12-16, 11-11) and 6.) Chico State (12-15, 10-12).
