TURLOCK, Calif.---In a game that saw six lead changes, Stan State fell 81-78 to the visiting Sonoma State Seawolves.
Kobe Ordonio paced the Warriors with a career high 28 points going 12-for-18 from the field including four-for-nine from three-point range.
Marlon Short recorded his 12
th straight game scoring in double digits with 19 points.
FIRST HALF: A
Kobe Ordonio three off a pass from
Benno Zecic gave the hosts a 14-7 lead in the first six minutes of the game. Stan State (9-13, 7-9 CCAA) increased its lead to 11 (21-10) on a jumper by
Marlon Short with a little over ten minutes left in the half. Pierce Rexford's three capped a 10-2 run by Sonoma State as the guests cut the Seawolf deficit to 23-20. Stan State held a 36-30 lead with 3:25 left in the half on another three by Ordonio off a pass from
Baljot Sahi. The Seawolves finished the half outscoring Stan State 12-5 to take a 42-41 lead into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: Another trey by Rexford increased the guests' lead to 52-48 five minutes into the new stanza. Julian Bryant's jump short at the 12:31 mark gave Sonoma State a 60-54 lead. Stan State went on a 7-0 run in the next two minutes and took a 61-60 lead on a
Jeremiah Jones' three-pointer. Sonoma State (10-13, 9-7 CCAA) came right followed that with a 10-4 run to take a 70-65 lead on a jumper by Nick Medeiros with just 8:07 left in the game. Twice in the next three minutes the hosts cut their deficit to just one including on a
Marlon Short floater. Jaylen Wells' lay-up increased the Seawolf lead to 79-74 with 2:33 on the clock. Stan State came right back and cut the deficit to just one (79-78) on a three by Jones off a pass from
Benno Zecic. Wells was fouled on the Sonoma State's next possession after getting an offensive rebound. Wells made both free throws to increased the Seawolf lead to 81-78 with just 14 seconds left in regulation. The Warriors had a chance but their shot fell short to tie the game as Sonoma State held on for the 81-78 victory.
STILL ALIVE: Stan State is still alive for one the six spots in the CCAA Championships Tournament with three weeks left in the regular season. The Warriors are tied for eighth place with SF State ach with a 7-9 CCAA record. They are just a half-game out of sixth place held by Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Monterey Bay. Stan State is just one game out fifth place (Chico State) and two out of third place (Cal Poly Humboldt and Sonoma State).
CAREER NIGHT: Kobe Ordonio scored a career high 36 minutes this afternoon. He went 12-for-18 from the field including four-for-nine from three-point land. Ordonio had one assist and a steal while grabbing five rebounds.
TWELFTH STRAIGHT: Marlon Short recorded his 12
th straight game of scoring in double digits this evening with his 19 points. He has scored in double figures in all but two games this season. Short went nine-for-19 from the field including connecting on a trey while grabbing three rebounds, dishing out two assists and blocking one shot in 34 minutes.

Benno Zecic's eight assists with two turnovers.
Travion Williams had three assists with two turnovers while
Marlon Short had two assists with no turnovers and
Baljot Sahi had one assist and turnovers.

MOVIN' ON UP: Benno Zecic has 148 assists and 50 steals this season after dishing out eight assists and recording five steals today. He is now third on Stan State's single season list in assists and 17 from moving into second place and 36 from becoming the Warriors' all-time single season leader. Zecic has 50 steals in his career which places him tenth on the Warriors' single season list in steals. For his career, he has 290 assists which is seven from moving into fourth place past Sam Marcus. He is 30 from moving into third place past Richard Sealy.
BOMBS AWAY: The Warriors connected on ten of their attempts from beyond the arc with
Kobe Ordonio leading the way with four.

BACK ON THE ROAD: Stan State will return to the road in Southern California for a pair of CCAA games. The Warriors will face Cal State Los Angeles in Los Angeles on February 9 at 7:30pm. They will finish off their road trip in San Marcos for a 3pm tip-off with Cal State San Marcos on February 11.
