TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State Warriors split their conference doubleheader with the visiting San Francisco State Gators taking the opener 3-1, but falling 4-1 in the night cap.
Casey Carr (4-3) picked up the win in the opener with
Anthony Ramirez recording his sixth save.
Noah Chelberg pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief for the Warriors in the opener.
Will Crookham pitched four scoreless innings in the no-decision in the night cap for the hosts.
GAME ONE: The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in game one of today's doubleheader in their half of the second inning.
Kyle Rachels had a lead-off single and went to third when
Mac Cabero reached on a. two-base fielding error by SF State. Rachels scored on a sacrifice fly by
Danny Murphy. With two outs and the bases loaded,
Tyler Van Dyk drew a walk to bring in Cabero with the inning's second run.
SF State cut the Warrior lead in half with a run in the top of the fourth inning, 2-1. Stan State added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Rachels had a lead-off walk and stole second.
Jacob Baker drove home Rachels with a two-out single to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead.

WARRIOR HITTERS: Stan State had six hits in the opener with
Jacob Baker going two-for-three with a run batted in for the hosts. Four other Warriors had one-hit a piece in
Tyler Van Dyk,
Flavio Perez,
Kyle Rachels, and
Ryan Leonesio.
STAN STATE PITCHERS: Casey Carr picked up the victory in the start to improve to 4-3. Carr pitched five innings of three-hit ball, giving up one run, walking five, and striking out three.
Noah Chelberg pitched 2.1 innings of relief, giving up one hit, striking out three and walking two.
Anthony Ramirez recorded his sixth save by pitching 1.2 innings of relief, giving up just one hit and striking out two.
GAME TWO: The night cap was scoreless until the Gator half of the sixth inning. Nick Upstill had a lead-off walk and stole second. He scored on a one-out single by Kody Gardner. San Francisco State (22-14, 15-13 CCAA) doubled its lead to 2-0 when
Cole Thompson drew a bases loaded two-out walk which brought in Gardner.
The Warriors cut the deficit in half in their half of the sixth inning.
Ryan Leonesio had a lead-off infield single. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and went to third on a
Robert Valdivia single. Leonesio scored on a sacrifice fly by
Tyler Van Dyk to cut the Warriors' deficit to 2-1.
The Gators increased their lead to 5-1 with a three-run seventh inning capped by an AJ Schrader two-out triple which scored Matt Sugden. Gary Grossjean (3-3) shut down the Warriors in the bottom of the seventh for the complete game victory.
WARRIOR HITTERS: Stan State had seven hits in the night cap led by
Alex Solis' two-for-three game. Five other Warriors had one hit apiece in Robert Valdivida,
Flavio Perez,
Kyle Rachels,
Mac Cabero, and
Ryan Leonesio.
STAN STATE PITCHERS: Will Crookham had the no-decision the start for Stan State. He pitched four scoreless innings, giving up two hits, striking out two and walking one.
Damian Vallejos (2-1) suffered the loss in relief for the hosts.
