HILO, HI.--- Hawai'I Hilo Vulcans scored three unanswered goals to key their 3-1 victory over the visiting Stan State Warriors this afternoon at Vulcan Soccer Field in Hilo, HI. Alyssa Padron scored the Vulcans' first goal in the third minute. Their other two goals came in the first fifteen minutes of the second half.

Sunny Mancilla.
FIRST HALF: Alyssa Padron gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the third minute on a cross from Teani Arakawa. Stan State had a chance to tie the match in the 27
th minute, when
Marivic Lek-Miro's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Vulcan's Phoebe Barnes. Four minutes later,
Alexis Brewah looked like she was going to tie the match for the guests, but Barnes stopped the attempt. Adree Johnson had a chance to double Hawai'i Hilo (2-0-1) when
Natalia Ochoa stopped her attempt in the 39
th minute to send the match into the half with the hosts leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF: Eight minutes into the second half, Hilo doubled their lead on a goal by Filippa Graneld off a cross from Teani Arakawa. The Vulcans took a 3-0 lead on a goal by Arakawa off a pass from Jazlynn Ellis in the 60
thminute. Aliah Avila looked like she was going to cut into the Vulcan lead but once again Barnes stopped the Warrior shot on goal attempt. The Warriors cut the Vulcan lead to 3-1 in the 67
th minute when
Sunny Mancilla had a through ball to
Alexis Brewah for the visitors' goal.
Shauna Johnston had a shot attempt for the Warriors go high over the goal in the 84
th minute. With three minutes left in the match,
Makeila Yancey saw her shot on goal attempt be stopped by the hosts' defense as Hawai'i Hilo took the 3-1 non-conference victory.
STATS: Alexis Brewah scored her second goal of the season from
Sunny Mancilla's second assist of the season.
Natalia Ochoa had four saves in goal for Stan State. Hawai'i Hilo outshot the Warriors 11-8 including 7-5 in shot on goal attempts. The Warriors held a 6-2 corner kick advantage.
UP NEXT: Stan State (2-2-1) will finish its two-match road trip to Hawai'i this Sunday, September 17 at 11am (HT). The Warriors will face Chaminade University at Vulcan Soccer Field on the campus of the University of Hawai'i Hilo. Chaminade defeated Hawai'i Pacific 2-0 on Thursday evening in Honolulu. Stan State will return home on Saturday, September 23 for a rare non-conference match with Chico State at 7pm.
