Alexis Brewah’s Late Goal Gives Warriors’ 1-0 Victory Over Chaminade

HILO, HI.---  Alexis Brewah connected on a through ball from Marivik Lek-Miro with a little over three minutes left in the match to give Stan State a 1-0 in its final match of the Warriors' two match road trip to Hawai'i.  Natalia Ochoa and Malia Allen combined for four saves in goal for Stan State en route to the Warriors' second shutout of the season.

FIRST HALF:  Chaminade (2-1-2) recorded the first shot on goal of the match when Kenna Kiefer's shot was stopped by the Warriors' Natalia Ochoa in the fifth minute.  With 17 minutes left in the first half, Kaia Mills' shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Silverswords' Naomi Takata.  Ochoa recorded her second save of the match stopping Shaley Mercado's attempt in the 43rd minutes and sending the match into halftime scoreless.

SECOND HALF:  Malia Allen came into the second half as the Warriors' goalkeeper.  She made her first of two saves in the 79th minute stopping Mercada's attempt.  Her second save came with eight minutes left when she stopped another attempt by Mercada.  Stan State made do of its only shot on goal attempt of the second half when Alexis Brewah connected on ball from Marivic Lek-Miro with a little over three minutes left in the match.  Chaminade drove down the pitch in the final minutes as the match ended in a Warrior 1-0 victory.

SECOND SHUTOUT: Natalia Ochoa and Malia Allen combined for the Warriors' second shutout of the season this afternoon in Hawai'i. Each goalkeeper recorded two saves in goal for Stan State (3-2-1).  The first shutout of the season came in the Warriors' 0-0 draw with Saint Martin's on September 3 in Monmouth, Ore.  In the match, Allen had one save and Ochoa had four.

BREWAH:  Alexis Brewah accounted for both Warriors' two goals this weekend.  She has scored a goal in Stan State's last three matches.  Brewah recorded her first game-winner of the season and third of her career.

UP NEXT:  Stan State will return home on Saturday, September 23 for a rare non-conference match with Chico State at 7pm on Youth Soccer Night.  This will be the beginning of a three-match home stand for the Warriors.  They will host Cal State San Marcos (Fri., Sept. 29 at 7pm) and Cal State East Bay (Sun., Oct. 1 at 2pm).
