TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State rallied from a 1-0 deficit and scored three unanswered goals in the final 22 minutes to defeat the visiting Academy of Art Urban Knights 3-1.
Tyler Tipton recorded another brace while
Finn Hoffmann scored the game-winner for the victorious Warriors.
FIRST HALF: Robby Rossas recorded his first of eight saves on the evening in the ninth minute stopping the Urban Knights' Abraham Valencia shot on goal attempt. Saturday's hero,
Tyler Tipton had a chance to put the Warriors on the board in the 12
th minute, but his shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Urban Knights' Jaiden Brooks. Five minutes later, Academy of Art (0-4-3) took the 1-0 lead on a goal by Jossart Jodito off a ball from Abraham Valencia. The Warriors had a chance to tie the match twice I the last six minutes, but Brooks stopped both
Gerardo Delgadillo and
Leonardo Muniz's shot on goal attempts to send the match into the half with Academy of Art leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF: The match remained 1-0 Academy of Art until the 69
th minute, when the Warriors were fouled in the box and
Tyler Tipton connected on his penalty kick of the season to tie the match at 1-1. He had a chance to give the Warriors the lead four minutes later, but Jaiden Brooks stopped his attempt. Stan State (3-3) took the 2-1 lead when
Finn Hoffmann scored his second goal of the season on a cross by
Leonardo Muniz in the 74
th minute. The Urban Knights had a chance to tie the match in the 76
th minute when Elvis Mensah's shot on goal attempt was stopped by
Robby Rosas. It looked like the Warriors were going to take a 3-1 lead in the 79
th minute, but
Alecxander Cuellar's shot on goal attempt was stopped by Art U's goalkeeper. Tipton sealed the win with a brace off a pass from
Nick Namwali in the 82
nd minute to give Stan State the 3-1 victory.
TIPTON: Tyler Tipton is three-for-three in penalty kicks and now has a team leading six goals on the season heading into this Saturday's match with Chico State. In his last two matches, Tipton has recorded a brace.
HOFFMANN: Finn Hoffman recorded his first game-winning goal of the season and second of his career this evening. His game-winner came in the 74
th minute off a ball from
Leonardo Muniz.
ROSAS: Robby Rosas recorded a season high eight saves in the Warriors' 3-1 win over Academy of Art this evening. His career high is nine saves on October 16, 2022, in Stan State's 1-0 loss at Cal State Monterey Bay.
