Stan State Rallies to Defeat Urban Knights, 3-1

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State rallied from a 1-0 deficit and scored three unanswered goals in the final 22 minutes to defeat the visiting Academy of Art Urban Knights 3-1.  Tyler Tipton recorded another brace while Finn Hoffmann scored the game-winner for the victorious Warriors.

FIRST HALF:  Robby Rossas recorded his first of eight saves on the evening in the ninth minute stopping the Urban Knights' Abraham Valencia shot on goal attempt.  Saturday's hero, Tyler Tipton had a chance to put the Warriors on the board in the 12th minute, but his shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Urban Knights' Jaiden Brooks.  Five minutes later, Academy of Art (0-4-3) took the 1-0 lead on a goal by Jossart Jodito off a ball from Abraham Valencia.  The Warriors had a chance to tie the match twice I the last six minutes, but Brooks stopped both Gerardo Delgadillo and Leonardo Muniz's shot on goal attempts to send the match into the half with Academy of Art leading 1-0.

SECOND HALF: The match remained 1-0 Academy of Art until the 69th minute, when the Warriors were fouled in the box and Tyler Tipton connected on his penalty kick of the season to tie the match at 1-1.  He had a chance to give the Warriors the lead four minutes later, but Jaiden Brooks stopped his attempt.  Stan State (3-3) took the 2-1 lead when Finn Hoffmann scored his second goal of the season on a cross by Leonardo Muniz in the 74th minute.  The Urban Knights had a chance to tie the match in the 76th minute when Elvis Mensah's shot on goal attempt was stopped by Robby Rosas.  It looked like the Warriors were going to take a 3-1 lead in the 79th minute, but Alecxander Cuellar's shot on goal attempt was stopped by Art U's goalkeeper.  Tipton sealed the win with a brace off a pass from Nick Namwali in the 82nd minute to give Stan State the 3-1 victory.

TIPTON:  Tyler Tipton is three-for-three in penalty kicks and now has a team leading six goals on the season heading into this Saturday's match with Chico State.  In his last two matches, Tipton has recorded a brace.

HOFFMANN:  Finn Hoffman recorded his first game-winning goal of the season and second of his career this evening.  His game-winner came in the 74th minute off a ball from Leonardo Muniz.
