MONMOUTH, Ore.--- Stan State finished its trip to Monmouth, Ore., with a scoreless draw with Saint Martin's this afternoon at WOU Soccer Field on the campus of Western Oregon University. The Warrior goalkeeper duo of
Malia Allen and
Natalia Ochoa each had a save in goal en route to the shutout.
FIRST HALF: Makeila Yancey recorded the game's first shot on goal attempt in the 24
th minute, but the Saints' Flavia Burrell came up with the save.
Malia Allen recorded her save in the 39
th minute as she stopped Mia Fleming's shot on goal attempt to send the match into the second half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Stan State (0-1-1) came out of the locker room with
Abby Martinez recording a shot on goal attempt in the 53
rd minute, but Burrell recorded another save for Saint Martin's (1-0-1).
Natalia Ochoa was in goal for the Warriors in the second half and came up with her save in the 66
th minute stopping Jamine Biova's shot on goal attempt. With eight minutes left, Alisa Avila had a chance to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead but Burrell stopped Avila's attempt. Stan State had three chances in the final minutes for the victory, but Marivic Lek-Mirio,
Alexis Brewah, and
Jocelyn Lopez's shot attempts went high of the net or to the right to end the match in a 0-0 draw.
STATS: Malia Allen and
Natalia Ochoa each had a save for the Warriors. Each goalkeeper played a half for Stan State. Stan State and Saint Martin's each had seven shot attempts with the Warriors holding a 3-2 shot on goal advantage. The Saints held an 8-6 corner kick advantage.
UP NEXT: The Warriors will return to the pitch at home this weekend. They will host Southern Oregon on Friday, September 8 at 7pm in their 2023 home opener at Warrior Stadium. Two days later, Stan State will entertain Dominican at 6pm on Sunday, September 10.
