No. 15 Chico State Defeats Warriors

CHICO, Calif.---  Stan State started its two-game road trip this weekend with an 84-56 loss at No. 15 Chico State (11-2, 6-2 CCAA).  Daniel Ameyaw and Jeremiah Jones each chipped in 10 points for the Warriors.  Stan State finishes its weekend with a 7:30pm scheduled tip-off at Cal Poly Humboldt this Saturday, Jan. 13 in Arcata, Calif.
 
FIRST HALF:  A Miles Daniel three gave the hosts a 17-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game.  Chico State increased its lead to 38-21 with just a minute left in the half.  Jeremiah Jones' two free throws cut the Warrior deficit to 38-24, but a Jojo Murphy jumper gave Chico State a 40-24 lead heading into the locker room. 
 
SECOND HALF:  Kelvin Wright Jr's lay-up gave the Wildcats a 44-26 in the first two minutes of the half.  Baljot Sahi's trey off a pass from Will Chavarin cut the Warrior deficit to 48-33 at the 14:17 mark of the second half.  Two minutes later, the Wildcats built their lead to 52-33.  Stan State (4-10, 1-7 CCAA) didn't go away as the Warriors cut the hosts' lead to 52-34 on a Chavarin lay-up off a pass from John Wade III.  Chico State outscored Stan State 15-7 to take a 67-41 and never looked back as they took the 84-56 victory.    
 
PAIR OF TENS:  Daniel Ameyaw and Jeremiah Jones led the way for the Warriors each with 10 points.  Ameyaw went five-for-eight from the field in 23 minutes.  Jones was three-for-seven from the field, made a trey, and three-for-four from the line.  He grabbed two rebounds and recorded two steals in 18 minutes. 
 
UP NEXT:  Stan State continues its road trip on Saturday, January 18 for a 7:30pm game with Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata.  The Lumberjacks lost 76-70 to Cal State Monterey Bay this evening in Arcata.  The Warriors will return home on Thursday, Jan. 20 for a 7:30pm scheduled game with Cal Poly Pomona at The Fitz on Stan State Student Affairs/Rotary Night.
