TURLOCK, Calif.-- Sonoma State outscored Stan State 43-21 to key its 68-54 road victory over the Warriors.
Mya Blake paced the Warriors with 15 points points.
Taylor Pilot, Alexis Woodon and
Jadyn Patterson each chipped in 10 points for the hosts.
FIRST QUARTER: Sonoma State (9-5, 4-3 CCAA) jumped out to an early 9-0 lead in the first six minutes of the quarter.
Mya Blake's two free throws capped a quarter ending 8-2 run by Stan State as the Warriors cut the deficit to 11-8 heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: Jadyn Patterson's trey off a
Mya Blake pass capped a quarter beginning 15-0 run by the Warriors as they took a 23-11 lead with 5:45 left in the half. An Ali McDonald jumper cut the Stan State lead to 28-16. The hosts increased their lead to 33-18 on a
Taylor Pilot lay-up off a pass from
Liliana Marques with a little under two minutes left in the half. Sonoma State finished the half on a 5-0 to cut its deficit to 33-23 heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: The Seawolves kept their run going as they cut the Warrior lead to 35-32 on a Jayme Blackard jumper five minutes into the third quarter. Stan State (10-7, 5-2 CCAA) increased its lead to 40-34 on a
Mya Blake trey off a
Taylor Pilot assist. Alli McDonald's trey capped a quarter ending 13-0 run by Sonoma State as the guests took a 47-40 lead into the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: The Seawolves kept their rally going as they increased their lead to 58-45 on a Sheriene Arikat lay-up just four minutes into the final ten-minute period. Alli McDonald's two made free throws increased the visitors' lead to 68-51 with just 28 seconds to go in regulation. An old-fashioned three-point play by
Taylor Pilot cut the Seawolf lead to 68-54, but it was a little too late as Sonoma State took the 14-point conference road win.
JUST MISSED A DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Taylor Pilot just missed a double-double this afternoon as she scored 10 points and had nine assists off the bench for the Warriors. She added eight rebounds and two assists.
17/21: Stan State had 17 assists on 21 made baskets today with
Taylor Pilots' nine leading the way.
Joia Armstrong and
Mya Blake each added two assists while
Jadyn Patterson,
Liliana Marques,
Kalyn Harris, and
Lyric Richardson each had one.
BATTLE OF THE BOARDS: The Warriors won the battle of the boards this afternoon, 42-35.
Taylor Pilot led the way with eighth with
Jadyn Patterson grabbing six rebounds.
Joia Armstrong had five rebounds and
Kalyn Harris had four.
UP NEXT: Stan State returns to the road for a pair of CCAA games in Northern California. The Warriors will face Chico State this Thursday, Jan. 11 in Chico, Calif. They will be in Arcata on Saturday, Jan. 13 to face Cal Poly Humboldt. Both games will have a scheduled 5:30pm tip-off. They will return home on Thursday, Jan. 20 for a 5:30pm scheduled game with Cal Poly Pomona at The Fitz on Stan State Student Affairs/Rotary Night.
