LOS ANGELES, Calif.---Â Stan State Warriors (11-4, 4-3 CCAA) faced #18 Cal State Los Angeles (9-5, 4-3 CCAA) in Los Angeles tonight, taking the match 3-2. The Warriors look to carry this momentum into tomorrow's game against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

FIRST SET: Stan State started off to a dominant start, taking the lead 9-3. Cal State LA responded well, though, bringing the score even at 13-13 on a handful of kills and a couple of attack errors by Stan State. The offense lit up for the Warriors as six different players found the floor to secure a set win 25-20.

SECOND SET: The set remained close through the first nine points, though Cal State LA managed to start to branch off at 6-4. Stan State refused to go down easily, taking the lead 17-15 on kills by
Alex Byrd and
Ellison Weaver. The Golden Eagles utilized their block to slow the Warrior offense, taking the set 25-18.

THIRD SET: Cal State LA brought their fire from the last set into this one, striking early to take a 9-4 lead.
Mariah Iosua began to break through after a timeout from Stanislaus State, bringing the score closer at 16-14 with Stan State still trailing. The Cal State LA offense proved to be too tough a fire to put out, closing out the set 25-17.

FOURTH SET: With their backs against the wall,
Ellison Weaver recorded four kills in the first nine points of the set to get the Warriors out to a 7-2 lead. Although the Golden Eagles attempted to catch Stan State,
Isabella Saucedo and
Makenna Carrillo both put up .500 hitting percentages for the set to prevent Cal State LA from ever leading and allowing Stan State to claim the set 25-22.

FIFTH SET: The fifth set was highlighted by
Isabella Saucedo and
Autumn Kirby. Kirby claimed the first point of the set with a kill, while Saucedo gave the Warriors their second point. The lead changed twice early on, neither team willing to let the win slip away, but Stan State went on a four-point run, starting with another kill by Kirby, that sealed the fate of Cal State LA, giving the Warriors a 10-6 lead. Two service aces by
Isabella Saucedo in the last five points of the set gave Stan State the command of the court to win the set 15-12 and the match.

BIG NEWS: Haley Burdo's 14 assists moved her to first in the Stan State all-time career records, now with 1,963 assists in her career at Stanislaus State. Burdo also assisted the Warrior defense, with
Gabby Rawson recording 14 digs and
Leah Mendoza and
Haley Burdo both recording eight digs.
Ellison Weaver lead the team with a season-high 13 kills, as well as a season-high three blocks.
Alex Byrd was the team leader in blocks with five, with Weaver and
Autumn Kirby both recording three.
