TURLOCK, Calif.---Â Stanislaus State (14-6, 7-5 CCAA) played a match against California State San Marcos (4-15, 2-10 CCAA) tonight, winning the game 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 27-29, 25-13, 15-6).

FIRST SET: Set one set the tone for the whole match. It was a battle from the start, with the score tied at 5-5 after kills from
Autumn Kirby and
Malia Tanksley. Cal State San Marcos fought to a 13-12 lead and kept it for the rest of the set. The Cougars took the set 25-21.

SECOND SET: The Warriors struggled to open set two, falling behind 2-8.
Ellison Weaver's three kills helped Stan State climb back to even the score. Weaver recorded four more kills this set, for a total of seven, to help the Warriors claim the set 25-22.

THIRD SET: Both teams were looking for a way to take and keep the lead in set three. Kills by
Makenna Carrillo and
Ellison Weaver attempted to give the Warriors an edge, but the Cougars kept battling. The score tied eight times before Cal State San Marcos was able to close out the set 29-27.

FOURTH SET: Stan State came out swinging with kills by
Ellison Weaver and
Isabella Saucedo to get them off to a 10-3 lead. The Warriors held the lead through the entire set, notably with three solo blocks from
Alex Byrd, to win the set 25-13.

FIFTH SET: The score was close, remaining tied until it was 5-5.
Ellison Weaver went on to record four kills, while three blocks from
Alex Byrd assisted the Warriors in winning the set and match 15-6.

CAREER HIGHS: Ellison Weaver recorded her twelfth double-double in her career and her first this season with a career-high 22 kills and career-high 18 digs.
Alex Byrd had a career-high with 6 solo blocks and 11 total blocks. Byrd also tied for the most total blocks in a single match, as well as taking the lead in all-time career total blocks in the Stan State NCAA DII history.
