Stan State Fights for Close Match Against RV San Francisco State

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State Warriors (9-4, 2-3 CCAA) faced San Francisco State University (10-3, 4-1 CCAA) tonight, who is receiving votes for top 25 contention, losing the match in 3 close sets. Tomorrow they will face #21 California State San Bernardino for the final game of their home stand.  
 
FIRST SET: Stan State kept things even for the first 20 points of the set. San Francisco State began to pull away with kills, pushing the score to 14-11. The Gators maintained their lead for the rest of their set, taking the set 25-21. 
 
SECOND SET: The Warriors struggled to take the lead, but Makenna Carrillo's .429 hitting percentage for the set kept them in the running. Three service aces gave Stan State momentum, but San Francisco claimed the set 25-21 once again. 
 
THIRD SET: The third set was a battle for both teams with the lead changing eight times. Christallynn Tate and Makenna Carrillo's kills kept the Warriors in contention, with two service aces from Haley Burdo keeping a lead for Stan State. Unfortunately, errors kept the Warriors from winning the third set, dropping the set and the match 22-25. 
 
FOR THE BOOKS: Haley Burdo's three service aces moved her to fourth in the Stan State all-time career records. Makenna Carrillo hit .474 on the night and Christallynn Tate's kills gave her and even .500 hitting percentage. Gabby Rawson was just shy of a double-double with 15 digs and 7 assists. The Warriors also had a combined 6 services aces this match. 
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors play tomorrow, October 5th, hosting #21 California State San Bernardino (8-4, 4-1 CCAA) at 5:00 p.m. at the Fitz. San Bernardino is coming off a four-game win streak, winning their last game against Chico State 3-1.
