Adrian Yepez’s Late Goal Runs Warriors Unbeaten Streak to Six

SAN MARCOS, Calif.---   Stan State's Adrian Yepez connected on a ball from Jacob Ramirez with three minutes left in regulation to give the Warriors the 1-0 road victory over Cal State San Marcos.  With the win, Stan State (7-4-5, 3-2-4 CCAA) runs its unbeaten streak to six and moves into the sixth and final spot for the six-team CCAA Soccer Championships with two matches left in the regular season.

FIRST HALF:  The Warriors had the match's first chance to take the lead just 70 seconds into the match when Alecxander Cuellar's shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Cougars' Tony Flores.  Nine minutes, Cal State San Marcos (4-7-5, 0-7-2 CCAA) had a chance to take the lead when Justin Aparicio stopped Tito Andac's shot on goal attempt.  Just a minute later, Edgar Castaneda saw his chance to give the Warriors the lead be stopped by the Cougars' keeper.  Aparicio made another stop in the 13th minute stopping Oli Barrosa's shot on goal attempt.  Castaneda had another chance to score, but once again Flores stopped the attempt in the 23rd minute.  The Warriors' keeper stopped Cisco Avila's shot on goal attempt in the 27th minute.  Stan State had two more chances for the lead be stopped by Flores.  The first in the 31st minute off the foot of Kenneth Solares.  The second came with seven minutes left in the half off the foot of Cuellar as the match went scoreless into the half.

SECOND HALF:  Just eleven minutes into the new half, Alecxander Cuellar had his third shot on goal attempt be stopped by CSUSM's keeper.  With less then 15 minutes left in the match, it looked like the hosts were going to take the lead, but Justin Aparicio stopped Tito Andac's shot on goal attempt. The Warrior keeper made fifth and final save of the match stopping Ryan Meinardus' shot in the 81st minute.  It looked like Landon Leal Ruiz was going to be the hero for Stan State, but his shot on goal attempt was stopped by Flores with less than six minutes left in the match.  Less than a minute later, the Warriors took the 1-0 lead when Adrian Yepez scored off a pass from Jacob Ramirez.  CSUSM had a chance to tie score at 1-1, but Brooklyn Bakers' shot went wide right as Stan State took the 1-0 victory.

6-2-1: With the victory this afternoon over Cal State San Marcos, Stan State is now 6-2-1 on the road.  The Warriors' two losses were 2-1 at then No. 16 Chico State and 4-0 at Cal State Monterey Bay.  Their one tie was a 1-1 draw at San Francisco State.
