Stan State Hosts Academy of Art for Home Opener

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State women's basketball team plays their home opener this week, facing Academy of Art. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6th.
 
WEEKEND RECAP: The Warriors spent last Friday and Saturday in Ellensburg, Washington, facing Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene. Despite the loss, Stan State put up good numbers. Da'Myiah Lewis put up a stellar 29 points in the game against Central Washington, while Talia Maxwell had a team-high of 10 rebounds. The Warriors were more successful than their opponents in points off turnovers, outscoring the Wildcats 27 to 14.
Three Warriors scored 12 points each in the game against the Nighthawks in Alyssa Premo, Talia Maxwell, and Da'Myiah Lewis. Maxwell also led the team in rebounds, blocks, and steals. As a team, they kept even with Northwest Nazarene in fast break points.

URBAN KNIGHTS IN REVIEW: Academy of Art opened their season at the CCAA/PacWest crossover in Seaside, California, facing San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay. The Urban Knights came home with two wins and hope to continue their win streak with a game facing Cal Maritime on Tuesday, November 12th before visiting Stan State the following Saturday. Both games were close, with Academy of Art claiming the victory by six points on both occasions. Despite San Francisco State's 15 steals, Academy of Art shot 53.7% from the field and held SF State to only 34.3 %. The stats tell a different tale in their game against Cal State Monterey Bay; the Urban Knights, though only shooting 35% from the field, paced the Otters' 28.6% field goal percentage.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  The Warriors lead the all-time series with Academy of Art 5-3, with the last three meetings resulting in wins for the Warriors. In the last match-up, Stan State claimed the win 84-65.

UP NEXT: Stan State travels to Fresno, Calif. to play Fresno Pacific University on Wednesday, November 20th, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. They return to play to games at the Fitzpatrick Arena the following week, starting with Jessup University on Tuesday, November 26th at 5:00 p.m. The Warriors' CCAA opener is on Saturday, November 30th as they take on Cal State Monterey Bay with a 1:00pm tip-off.
