POMONA, Calif.---The Stan State Warriors faced Cal State Los Angeles tonight in the CCAA Championship finals, winning the match 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-17). Stan State is the CCAA Champions after making it to the finals for the first time in program history, winning seven straight games to take the title.
 
FIRST SET: The first set started out even, tying the score four times before Cal State Los Angeles broke away. The Golden Eagles went on a run, following up their kills with blocks and service aces, until the Warriors found themselves down 9-17. Kills from Isabella Saucedo and blocks from Alex Byrd helped bring Stan State close, but Cal State Los Angeles claimed the set 25-22.
 
SECOND SET: Stan State opened the set with a block and two kills from Mariah Iosua, getting out to an early lead, though the Golden Eagles began to match their block. The teams traded points during the middle of the set before unforced errors by Cal State Los Angeles and a block by Alex Byrd and Mariah Iosua put the Warriors in the lead 15-13. Stan State began to falter, but two opportune timeouts brought the team back to center to win the set 26-24.
 
THIRD SET: Cal State Los Angeles took an early lead with kills from Zuhal Cetin, though Ellison Weaver began to find kills of her own. The Golden Eagles put the score back in their favor 17-15 to force Stan State to take their first timeout of the set. Despite blocks from Cal State Los Angeles, Ellison Weaver and Mariah Iosua were able to find the floor, coming out ahead to take the set 25-23.
 
FOURTH SET: Set four started in Stan State's favor and ended that way. The Warriors took the lead 2-1 and never lost it, with Ellison Weaver hitting 7 for 8 to earn a .875 hitting percentage in the set. Alex Byrd was part of all four of the blocks in the set, combining with Isabella Saucedo for three of them. The team hit 13 for 24, a .542 hitting percentage, to win the set and match 25-17.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Three Warriors recorded double-doubles in the match. Shaelyn Pruiett dug 11 spikes and assisted in 16. Gabby Rawson had 18 digs of her own paired with 12 assists, and Ellison Weaver coupled her 18 kills with 16 digs. The team matched their offense with 10 blocks, with Alex Byrd combining for nine of them.
 
ALL-TOURNAMENT: The All-Tournament team consisted of five Stan State players, with Ellison Weaver also taking home the Most Valuable Player award. Isabella Saucedo, Alex Byrd, Gabby Rawson, and Haley Burdo were part of the team. The remaining members are made of Emily Elliot, Havannah Vogel, Zuhal Centin, and Jameson Sanders of Cal State Los Angeles; Izzy Issak of San Francisco State; Savannah Hoffman of Cal State San Bernardino, and Hellen McMullin of Cal Poly Pomona.
 
NCAA TOURNAMENT: The Warriors have punched their ticket to the NCAA DII West Region Volleyball Championship tournament after winning the CCAA Championship. The NCAA selection show will be air Monday, November 25^th at 4:30 p.m. on the NCAA website, which will reveal the teams headed to the regional tournament along with the location.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors will be part of the NCAA DII West Region Volleyball Championship, taking place December 5^th through 7^th. Location and times are currently to be determined.
