TURLOCK, Calif.---   With just one match left in the regular season, Stan State is just two points out of the final spot for the six-team 2024 CCAA Soccer Championships Tournament which begins this Sunday, November 10 with First Round matches at home sites.  The Warriors will host No. 21 Chico State this Thursday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. in both teams' regular season finale at Warrior Stadium.  With the Warriors win and Cal State East Bay loses, they will clinch the final spot for the CCAA Soccer Championships. 

LAST WEEK:  In their final two road matches of the regular season, Stan State went 1-1.  The Warriors started the weekend with a thrilling 1-0 win at Cal State San Marcos.  Adrian Yepez scored his third goal of the season with less than three minutes remaining on a ball from Jacob RamirezJustin Aparicio had five saves in goal en route to his first shutout in goal.  Then on Sunday in Hayward, the Warriors lost a 1-0 heart breaker to Cal State East Bay.  The Warriors had six shots on goal attempts in the match with three coming from Ramirez and one each from Eiio Corral, Edgar Castaneda, and Alecxander Cuellar

WARRIORS IN REVIEW:  Stan State enters its regular season home final with No. 21 Chico State with a 7-5-5 overall record and a 3-3-4 CCAA record.  The Warriors are averaging 1.24 goals a game while giving up 1.06 goals a game.  Alecxander Cuellar and Jacob Ramirez are tied for the team lead in points (nine).  They each have three assists.  The Warrior duo and Adrian Yepez each have scored a team leading two game-winning goals this season. They are also tied with Yepez each with a team leading three goals scored. Edgar Castaneda leads the team with his five assists. 

TWO POINTS OUT:  Heading into the final match of the regular season, Stan State is two points out of the sixth and final spot which is held by Cal State East Bay for the six-team CCAA Soccer Championships.  Five teams have clinched their spot in the CCAA Soccer Championships in Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal Poly Pomona, Chico State, and Cal State Monterey Bay. The final spot is between the Warriors and Pioneers.  If Stan State defeats Chico State and Cal State East Bay loses at Cal State San Marcos, the Warriors receive the final spot.  If Cal State East Bay ties or defeats Cal State San Marcos or if the Warriors loses to Chico State, the Pioneers are the sixth seed.  The top six teams at the end of the regular season on November 7 will receive a bid to the CCAA Soccer Championships, Nov. 10, 15-17.  The first round will be held on November 10 at the sites of the number three and four seeds.  The top two seeds receive a first-round bye.  The semi-finals are set for November 15 in Hayward, Calif., on the campus of Cal State East Bay.  The championship match will take place on November 17 at 11:00 a.m. in Hayward Calif.

RANKED CCAA/NCAA:  Five Warriors in Edgar Castaneda, Alecxander Cuellar, Angel Ruiz-Hernandez, Jacob Ramirez, and Adrian Yepez are in the top ten in the CCAA in six statistical categories. Ruiz-Hernandez is tied for second with six shutouts, fourth in saves (56) and goals against average (1.13), and sixth in saves percentage (.757).  Castaneda is tied for third with his five assists.  Cuellar, Ramirez, and Yepez are tied for seventh each with two game-winning goals. 

ALL-TIME SERIES:  Chico State leads the all-time series with the Warriors 17-4-3 since 2007.  The Warriors lost 2-1 to Chico State on September 28 in Chico earlier this season.  Landon Leal Ruiz scored the Warriors' goals on a ball from Edgar Castaneda and Alecxander Cuellar.  Benjamin Ralph scored the game-winner for Chico State in the 56th minute.  The Warriors' last victory over Chico State was 1-0 in Chico in 2015. 

WILDCATS IN REVIEW: The 21st ranked Chico State Wildcats are 10-2-5 overall and 4-1-5 in the CCAA after tying both of their road matches 1-1 with Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Marcos.  The Wildcats are 2-0-3 in their last five matches.  Miles Rice leads the team with his eleven goals, 23 points, and four game-winning goals to go with his one assist.  Bryan Manriquez has a team high five assists.  Preston Moll, Josh Moll, and Sylus Sells each have scored three goals this season.  Emanuel Padilla has a 0.809 goals against average with 54 saves, five shutouts, and a .783 saves percentage in 17 matches.
