Stan State Finish Road Trip at Cal Poly Humboldt and Sonoma State

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stanislaus State women's volleyball (15-7, 8-6 CCAA) will be finishing their road trip, visiting Arcata, Calif. to play Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday, November 7th, before heading to Rohnert Park, Calif. to face Sonoma State on Saturday, November 9th. They will then finish their regular season with two games at home.
 
LAST WEEK: For the first two games of their four-game road trip, the Warriors paid a visit to RV Cal State San Bernardino at Coussoulis Arena. Stan State bested the Coyotes 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20) with Makenna Carrillo and Isabella Saucedo having a standout match for themselves. The Warriors then traveled to San Francisco, Calif. to face San Francisco State University. The Gators, ranked 19th by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), swept the Warriors 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 24-26). Stan State still put up good numbers despite the loss. Makenna Carrillo and Malia Tanksley led the team in kills, with 18 and 17, respectively. Each recorded 12 kills in a single match. Haley Burdo had 38 assists this weekend to aid the offense. Alex Byrd led the team in blocks with nine, while Byrd, Autumn Kirby, and Mariah Iosua all recorded a solo block over the weekend. Gabby Rawson was also strong on defense with 36 digs. Both primary setters recorded double-doubles, with Haley Burdo recording 15 assists and 14 digs at San Bernardino and Shaelyn Pruiett earned hers in the match against SF State with 12 assists and 10 digs.

STAN STATE IN REVIEW: Stan State split this week's games to have a 15-7 overall record and an 8-6 CCAA record. Isabella Saucedo continues to lead the team in kills with 184; Ellison Weaver follows with 148. Haley Burdo's 403 assists and Shaelyn Pruiett's 316 assists ensure the offense runs smoothly. Autumn Kirby leads in service aces with 29. On defense, Gabby Rawson leads with 352 digs. Alex Byrd is the leader in total blocks with 83 and Autumn Kirby follows with 78 blocks.

RANKED CCAA/NCAA: Alex Byrd, Autumn Kirby, and Gabby Rawson continue to hold top spots within the conference. Rawson leads in total digs with 352, which also puts her in first for digs per set as well at 4.29. Alex Byrd is first in the conference in blocks per set and total blocks with 1.19 blocks per set and 83 total blocks. Autumn Kirby is right behind Byrd in second with 1.03 blocks per set and 78 total blocks. The Warriors remain in the top 25 in the NCAA in blocks per set, ranking twenty-fourth once again with 2.42 per set.

MOVIN' ON UP: Haley Burdo continues to add assists to her career numbers, increasing the all-time career high to 2,090. Burdo is also fifth in service aces with 136, needing two more to pass the tie in fourth and move to third, and ninth in digs with 848. Alex Byrd has added blocks to the all-time career high in total blocks as well, now having recorded 322 blocks. Byrd remains in third for all-time solo blocks with 77. Gabby Rawson, now at 1460 digs, is only 40 digs away from becoming the leader in career digs. Ellison Weaver is now in eighth place in kills with 749.
 

LUMBERJACKS IN REVIEW: Cal Poly Humboldt (7-15, 3-11 CCAA) is coming into the match on a seven-game loss streak, hoping to snap it within their last four games. Outside Hitter Awelina Fakalata is the leader in kills and service aces for the Lumberjacks, while also being second in digs on the team. Fakalata has recorded 352 kills, 31 service aces, and 281 digs. Hollis Downing leads the team in blocks with 45, while libero Sophia Spoja leads in digs with 303. Senior setter Kyra Slavik is the assists leader with 606.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Stanislaus State leads the all-time series with Cal Poly Humboldt 19-13, despite a loss this year on September 18th 1-3 (15-25, 23-25, 25-13, 25-21). Isabella Saucedo and Malia Tanksley tied for the most kills on the team with 12 apiece. Autumn Kirby and Gabby Rawson both recorded two service aces, while Rawson picked up 22 digs.

SEAWOLVES IN REVIEW: Sonoma State University is 9-11 overall and has a 6-8 record in CCAA play. They have won two of their last five and will face Chico State at home before the Warriors come to visit. The defense for Sonoma State is led by Meadow Cooper with 227 digs and Emily Hernandez with 71 blocks. Setters Jules Tan and Brynna Slayton lead the team in assists: Tan with 409 and Slayton with 370. Slayton also leads in service aces with 39. Peyton McBride's 198 kills lead the team, followed by 157 from Jackie Winfield.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Sonoma State leads the all-time series 27-5. The Seawolves picked up a 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 17-25, 24-26) win in their last match-up at the Fitz on September 27th of this year. Autumn Kirby put up a strong six blocks, while Gabby Rawson did her best to keep the Warrior momentum with 13 digs. Shaelyn Pruiett played well both ways, recording a double-double with 14 assists and 12 digs.

UP NEXT: Stan State returns home for the final two games of the regular season, first hosting Cal State East Bay on Friday, November 15th at the Fitzpatrick Arena with a 5:00 p.m. start time. The following day, Saturday, November 16th, Cal State Monterey Bay visits on Senior Day at the Fitz. The final edition of the Serving for Pizza contest this year will also occur.
