SEASIDE, Calif.--- Stan State visited Cal State Monterey Bay this evening, winning the game 73-59 and claiming the season series.
Da'Myiah Lewis led in scoring for the Warriors with 24 points, followed by
Talia Maxwell with 21 points, and
Daja Scott-Mitchell with 18 points.
FIRST QUARTER: The first quarter started in the Otters' (3-7, 0-3 CCAA) favor with a quick 11-4 lead. The deficit was brought to three after four points from
Alyssa Premo and a layup by
Da'Myiah Lewis. The game remained close for the majority of the quarter, until a five point run by Cal State Monterey Bay at the end of the quarter put the score 23-17 going into the next period.

SECOND QUARTER: Talia Maxwell opened the second quarter with one of her signature blocks. Stan State (3-7, 2-2 CCAA) found an opening to go on a seven-point run to bring the score within one. The Otters responded with a run of their own, keeping the Warriors down by eight. Both teams continued to battle, with Monterey Bay continuing to have the edge. The Otters continued to lead, the score 38-32 going into the half.
THIRD QUARTER: Cal State Monterey Bay and Stan State traded two-pointers before a pair of free throws from
Da'Myiah Lewis brought the Otters' lead down to two. The teams traded the lead, until the Warriors ended the quarter with free throws from
Alyssa Premo and a jumper from
Talia Maxwell to take the lead 49-46. The Stan State defense held Monterey Bay to shooting just 30.8% from the field.

FOURTH QUARTER: Two quick scoring plays from Stan State brought its lead up to seven, but Monterey Bay was quick to retaliate with a six-point run to bring the score even. The Warriors were not interested in letting this game slip away, scoring seven points of their own. They continued to press, holding back the Otters' offense to claim the game 73-59.

CAREER-HIGH FOR SCOTT-MITCHELL: Daja Scott-Mitchell recorded a new career high of 18 points this evening. Scott-Mitchell also came close to a double-double with nine rebounds, adding two assists, three steals, and a block. Her assists and steals are also career-highs for her.

GARRETT'S GAME: Quinn Garrett played all 40 minutes of this evening's game, helping secure the win with six rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Garrett's six rebounds are a new career-high for her.
MILESTONE FOR LEWIS: With 24 points in this evening's game,
Da'Myiah Lewis has now scored over 500 points in her career, currently having scored 511.
